Giants' Chris Manhertz: Back with Giants on one-year deal
Manertz is re-signing with the Giants on a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The Giants have re-signed the veteran tight end rather than allowing Manhertz to hit free agency. He's expected to continue filling a depth role in 2026 after appearing in all 17 games during the 2025 season but contributing just one catch.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: No looks in Week 15
Manhertz went without a target while playing four of the Giants' 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Commanders.
Manhertz has suited up for all 14 of the Giants' games this season but has seen more playing time on special teams than offense in recent weeks. Even on the occasion the reserve tight end takes the field with the offense, he's almost exclusively deployed as a blocker. Manhertz has drawn just one target all season, which came back in Week 3.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Remains limited to blocking role
Manhertz didn't draw a target while playing 15 of 72 snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Packers.
The reserve tight end has suited up in all 11 of the Giants' games this season, but he's drawn just one target. Manhertz should continue to suit up on game days but will largely be limited to a blocking role on offense in addition to serving as a core special-teams player.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Good to go Sunday
Manhertz (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the 49ers, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Manhertz dealt with an illness during the week but was able to log a full practice Friday. With Daniel Bellinger (neck) doubtful to play, Manhertz could see an increased role as a blocker at tight end.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Logs second straight limited practice
Manhertz (illness) was limited at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Manhertz is dealing with an illness and has been limited at each of New York's first two practice sessions to begin the week. It still seems more likely than not that he'll be able to play Sunday versus San Francisco, though he may enter the weekend with an injury status if he's not able to log a full practice Friday. Manhertz typically works in a blocking role and has just one catch on one target for seven yards through eight games this season.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Returns to practice
Manhertz (undisclosed) returned to practice Tuesday, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.
Manhertz missed the Giants' second preseason game over the weekend, but his injury clearly isn't severe. The veteran tight end is more of a block-first player at the position.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Sits out second preseason game
Manhertz (undisclosed) didn't play against the Jets in Saturday's preseason contest, and he appears to be dealing with an injury, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Manhertz also didn't participate in joint practices with the Jets last week, per Evan Barnes of Newsday, though it's not clear what type of issue he's dealing with. The veteran tight end has little appeal in fantasy due to his lack of work in the passing game, though he's valuable to the Giants' offense for his work as a blocker.

Giants' Chris Manhertz: Returns to field
Manhertz (finger) participated in Wednesday's practice, Anne-Marie Caruso of NorthJersey.com reports.
Manhertz underwent surgery after sustaining a finger injury in the Giants' 2024 season finale, but it now appears he's moved past the issue. The 33-year-old from Canisius appeared in all 17 of New York's games last season, catching three passes for 30 yards and one touchdown across 329 offensive snaps. He's expected to remain one of the team's top reserve tight ends in 2025.
