Fantasy News

  • Nick Gates: Loses roster spot

Gates (groin) was released by the Eagles on Tuesday. Gates finished the season on injured reserve, after serving as depth on Philadelphia's offensive line for nine regular-season games in 2024, including one start. A six-year NFL veteran, Gates should latch on elsewhere as interior line depth.

  • Eagles' Nick Gates: Placed on injured reserve

The Eagles placed Gates (groin) on injured reserve Saturday. Gates appeared in nine regular-season games with one start for Philadelphia this season, but he has been dealing with a groin injury as of late. Moving him to IR also opened up space on the active roster for Eagles defensive stalwart Brandon Graham, who was officially activated from injured Saturday. With Gates officially out of action, starting left guard Landon Dickerson will likely serve as the backup center behind Cam Jurgens.

  • Nick Gates: Gets let go

The Commanders cut Gates on Wednesday. As expected, the Commanders have officially decided to part ways with Gates after just one season. He will probably garner interest from multiple teams looking for an experienced center.

  • Commanders' Nick Gates: Expected to take over at center

Following the Commanders' release of Chase Roullier (knee) on Friday, Gates is expected to take over as the team's starting center, The Athletic's Ben Standig reports. Gates inked a three-year deal with Washington back in March and made 29 starts in four years with the Giants, showing the ability to play anywhere along the interior line. He'll get the first crack at replacing Roullier, though the Commanders also brought back veteran Tyler Larsen on a one-year deal and drafted Ricky Stromberg in the third round last weekend.
