Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Starting training camp on PUP
The Commanders placed Wise (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Saturday.
Wise missed nearly the entire 2025 campaign due to a quadriceps injury and is now dealing with an undisclosed issue to open up training camp. While there's currently no timetable for the 31-year-old's return, he will be eligible to participate in practice once healthy but will be limited to side work until then.

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Inks new deal with Washington
The Commanders re-signed Wise (quadriceps) to a one-year contract Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Wise was slated to become a free agent next week, but he's sticking in Washington after appearing in just two games last season before suffering a season-ending quadriceps injury in Week 2 against the Packers. Wise will turn 32 years old in July and has 34.0 career sacks across nine seasons.

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Officially lands on IR
Washington placed Wise (quadriceps) on injured reserve Monday.
Wise hurt his quad during Thursday's Week 2 loss to Green Bay and won't be able to play again this season. He'll finish his ninth NFL campaign with four tackles over two games. The Commanders signed defensive end Jalyn Holmes from their practice squad Monday to take Wise's spot on the 53-man roster.

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Done for season due to quad
Wise (quadriceps) suffered a season-ending injury during Thursday's 27-18 loss to the Packers, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Wise was carted off the field due to the injury, which occurred on a PAT attempt. The team will likely follow up shortly with a move placing him on injured reserve in the coming days. Wise will finish the 2025 season with four tackles (two solo).

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Done for night
Wise (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's contest against the Packers.
Wise went down with an apparent lower-body injury on an extra-point attempt by the Packers in the second quarter, and it's now confirmed he's dealing with a quad issue. The 31-year-old required a cart to get to the locker room, so he may be looking at an extended absence.

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Cleared to play against Green Bay
Wise (knee) is active for Thursday's game against the Packers.
Wise drew the questionable tag for Week 2 due to a knee injury, but the issue isn't severe enough for him to miss Thursday's game. The 2017 fourth-rounder logged three tackles (two solo) during the Commanders' Week 1 win over the Giants this past Sunday.

Commanders' Deatrich Wise: Listed as questionable for TNF
Wise (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday and is listed as questionable for Thursday's road game against the Packers.
Wise was listed as a "full" participant on Washington's estimated practice reports Monday and Tuesday, so it's possible his limited reps Wednesday represent a setback of some sort. He played 56 percent of defensive snaps Week 1 and logged four tackles (two solo). If Wise isn't cleared to play Thursday, second-year pro Javontae Jean-Baptiste will stand to benefit from increased defensive snaps.
