  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Perfect against Vegas

Fairbairn converted both field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Thursday night's 22-20 preseason loss to the Raiders.

Fairbairn's longest field goal came in the second quarter, with the 57-yarder propelling the Texans to a 20-3 lead. The kicker's eight-point night should leave Texans fans confident the 32-year-old still has a strong and consistent leg as the team enters yet another year of AFC title contention.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Idle against Bolts

Fairbairn did not play in the Texans' 27-7 preseason loss to the Chargers on Thursday.

With Fairbairn on the sidelines, Chris Freeman served as the Texans' kicker Thursday and missed his lone field-goal attempt from 61 yards out. Freeman was then waived by Houston on Friday, leaving Fairbairn as the only kicker on the 90-man roster. Unless the Texans sign another kicker, Fairbairn figures to play in each of the Texans' last two preseason games, with the next taking place this Thursday at home against the Raiders.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Extended by Houston

Fairbairn and the Texans have agreed on a two-year deal, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The contract is a two-year, $13 million extension, which makes Fairbairn the highest-paid kicker in the NFL. The 32-year-old made NFL history during the 2025 season by tying David Akers' 2011 record for most field goals in a single season with 44. This extension will provide key continuity on special teams for the Texans as they chase a fourth consecutive playoff berth in the 2026 season.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Ties NFL record in win

Fairbairn successfully converted six of six field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Sunday's 38-30 win over Indianapolis.

Fairbairn, who tied a franchise record for field goals in a single game, upped his season total to 44 field goals, which tied an NFL single-season record set by David Akers in 2011 for the 49ers. Fairbairn, who missed two games in 2025 due to injury, converted 44 of 48 attempts (91.6 percent) and all 28 of his extra-point tries in 2025. He finished second in the NFL scoring with 160 points, behind only Seattle's Jason Myers (171).

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Practices in full Thursday

Fairbairn (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Fairbarin was limited in Wednesday's practice while under the weather, but it appears the veteran kicker is past his illness and is on track to play in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Colts. Fairbairn has gone 38-for-42 on field-goal attempts and 26-for-26 on point-after tries through 14 regular-season games.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Dealing with illness

Fairbairn was limited in practice Wednesday due to an illness.

It's not clear when Fairbairn began feeling under the weather, but the good news is that it's relatively early in the week. Given that he was able to log a limited practice Wednesday, it's likely that the veteran kicker will be able to play Sunday against Indianapolis. Fairbairn has gone 16-for-17 on FG attempts since returning Week 12 from a two-game absence due to a quad injury.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Flawless in win

Fairbairn made both of his field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in Saturday's 20-16 win over the Chargers.

Fairbairn converted field-goal attempts from 41 yards and 44 yards in Saturday's effort. The kicker accounted for eight of the team's 20 points in the win. Fairbairn has now made 38 of 42 field goals and 26 of 26 extra points on the season.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Makes long kicks Sunday

Fairbairn hit all three field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Raiders.

The kicker's field goals came from 55, 50 and 49 yards, respectively. Fairbairn has missed only four kicks this year, all field goals from 50 yards or longer, though he was perfect from that distance Sunday. The longtime Texan remains a reliable kicking option on a great defensive team that often settles for field goals.
