Player Outlook
The Jacksonville defense was one of the biggest surprises in Fantasy last year with its top-three finish. We don't expect the Jaguars to repeat that, but we do expect them to finish as a top-10 defense in 2026, which makes them worth a pick in the final round. They also open the season with Cleveland, making them a great streaming option. You can expect some regression from the four touchdowns they produced last year, plus the team lost Devin Lloyd and Andrew Wingard to free agency and did not make any additions that we see making an immediate impact. Do not look at their numbers from last year and view this as a set-it-and-forget-it DST. There is a good chance we'll suggest sitting them in Week 2-5 against the Broncos, Patriots, Bengals, and Eagles.

    Striggow enters training camp competing against Wesley Williams and Zach Durfee for rotational snaps at defensive end behind starters Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker, Paul Bretl of USA Today reports. Striggow joined the Jaguars in May of 2025 as an undrafted free agent but impressed the coaching staff enough to appear in 10 regular-season games last year, finishing with 16 tackles (six solo), including 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Training camp and preseason games present Striggow with the opportunity to earn a larger role for himself for the 2026 season.

  • Jaguars' Jalen McLeod: Back on field for camp

    McLeod (ankle) is participating at the Jaguars' training camp, Corey Perrine of The Florida Times-Union reports. McLeod was unable to make his NFL debut in 2025 due to injury, but it looks like he's starting 2026 with a clean slate. Before suiting up for any regular-season action, he'll have to earn a spot on the 53-man roster among competition like Branson Combs and Yasir Abdullah.

  • Jaguars' Jourdan Lewis: Back at full strength

    Lewis (foot) has been a full participant in training camp practices, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Lewis underwent season-ending foot surgery in late December, and his presence was missed in a big way for the Jaguars, especially in their loss to the Bills in the AFC wild-card round in January. The veteran corner worked on the side during minicamp but has fully participated in all practices to open training camp. Prior to his season-ending procedure, Lewis logged 39 tackles (21 solo), 10 pass defenses (including two interceptions) and one fumble recovery across 12 regular-season games in 2025.

  • Jaguars' Jack Kiser: Absent with knee issue

    Kiser (knee) was not present during Thursday's practice, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports. The outside linebacker seems to have picked up a problem with his right knee but isn't expected to have a particularly lengthy absence. The fact O'Halloran notes Kiser is expected back "later in camp" suggests the 2025 fourth-round pick should have a chance to return to the field with enough time to amply prepare for what's expected to be a starting role in 2026.

  • Jaguars' Dane Jackson: Placed on reserve/retired list

    The Jaguars placed Jackson (personal) on the reserve/retired list Tuesday. Jackson signed with the Jaguars in early June after being released by the Bills but has decided to retire from football. The cornerback played in 55 regular-season games, and totalled 178 tackles (144 solo), 30 passes defensed and three interceptions. The 29-year-old's last game was the Bills' 33-30 overtime playoff loss to the Broncos. Jackson played one defensive snap in the contest and gave up a 26-yard touchdown to Marvin Mims with 55 seconds left in regulation. The Jags signed cornerback Corey Ballentine in a corresponding move.

  • Levi Wallace: Hangs up cleats

    Wallace announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, NFL.com reports. Wallace played seven seasons in the NFL. The 31-year-old cornerback appeared in 96 regular-season games split between the Bills, Steelers and Broncos. He last played in 2024 with the Broncos and was in camp with the Jaguars in 2025 prior to being waived from injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Wallace posted totals of 333 tackles (256 solo) and 56 passes defensed, including 12 interceptions, across 96 career regular-season games.

  • Keith Taylor: Reaches injury settlement with Jags

    The Jaguars removed Taylor (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Taylor landed on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury June 4, so he was slated to miss the entire 2026 campaign. Instead, he's reached an injury settlement with Jacksonville and will be able to sign with a different organization once he's healthy. Taylor played in two games with Atlanta last season, notching six tackles (four solo).

  • Jaguars' Jourdan Lewis: Works on side during OTAs

    Lewis (foot) didn't participate in OTAs on Monday but instead worked on the side, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Lewis ended last season on IR due to a foot injury that required surgery. While he appears to be close to moving past the issue, the veteran cornerback isn't quite there yet. It's not clear whether or not it'll prevent Lewis from being ready for the beginning of training camp in late July.

It's not clear what kind of injury Taylor is tending to, but he'll now have to sit out the entire 2026 season unless he works out an injury settlement with the Jaguars. In a corresponding roster move, Jacksonville signed cornerback Dane Jackson.

Both Smith and Orhorhoro were second-round picks in the 2024 Draft and will get changes of scenery. In two seasons with the Jaguars, Smith appeared in 24 regular-season contests and logged 32 tackles (14 solo), including 3.0 sacks, and four pass breakups.

  • Jaguars' Travon Walker: Signs extension with Jaguars

    The Jaguars have signed Walker to a four-year extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, Walker's four-year, $100 million extension with Jacksonville includes $77 million guaranteed and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he recorded 38 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, in 14 regular-season games, production that was down from his 2024 output of 61 tackles and 10.5 sacks in 17 regular-season contests. As long as the 25-year-old can avoid the injury bug, he's a candidate to bounce back in 2026, as he carries double-digit sack upside in his starting defensive end role.

  • Cardinals' Andrew Wingard: Inks one-year deal with Cardinals

Wingard emerged as a starting option at safety for the Jaguars last year, recording 84 tackles (45 solo), nine passes defensed (including one interception) and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season appearances, but with the Cardinals in 2026 he stands to operate in a backup capacity behind Dadrion Taylor-Demerson and Budda Baker. If Wingard outperforms expectations on his 'prove-it' deal with Arizona, however, he'll stand to draw increased demand as a free agent in 2027.

  • Giants' Greg Newsome: Joining Big Blue

    Newsome is slated to sign a one-year deal worth up to $10 million with the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Following a 13-game stint (including playoffs) with the Jaguars, Newsome has found a new home in New York after spending his first four full NFL seasons with the Browns. Despite recording 32 total tackles and six passes defensed, including one interception, during his time in Jacksonville, the 2021 first-round pick struggled in coverage, allowing a 107.5 passer rating when targeted. However, he's shown flashes throughout his career, most notably during the 2023 season when he posted 49 total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and 14 passes defensed, including two interceptions, while allowing a 74.8 passer rating when targeted. Now in New York, Newsome is expected to operate as one of the Giants' top boundary corners during the 2026 season.

  • Panthers' Devin Lloyd: Inks deal with Carolina

    The Panthers agreed to terms with Lloyd on a three-year, $45 million contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. After being selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2022 Draft, Lloyd spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars. After posting 100-plus tackles in three straight seasons, Lloyd managed just 81 tackles (35 solo), including 1.5 sacks, across 15 regular-season starts during the 2025 campaign. However, Lloyd made an impact elsewhere in the box score, recording seven pass breakups, including a career-best five interceptions, and was named a second-team All-Pro. Lloyd should be an every-down linebacker in Carolina after playing just 73 percent of the defensive snaps for the Jaguars last season.

Gardeck ended the 2024 regular season on the Cardinals' injured reserve after tearing his ACL in October. He worked in a rotational role on defense, and while his sack total was his lowest over his last three years, he finished with a career high in tackles while appearing in every single game for the Jaguars, including in the AFC wild-card round against the Bills.
