Dallas deserves kudos for reconfiguring its defense considerably from last November through the 2026 NFL Draft. The unit has seven new starters from last year's Week 1 lineup, including beastly defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, who made the defense better upon his arrival in 2025. The Cowboys also drafted two edge rushers, including first-rounder Malachi Lawrence, adding them to Williams and former Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary to form a formidable team to get after the quarterback. If they get the Giants in Week 1 without Malik Nabers at full strength, then this is a DST to consider streaming to begin the season.

  • Cowboys' Jalen Thompson: Dealing with hip injury

Thompson overcame a pectoral injury to participate in Wednesday's first training camp session, but has since suffered another injury. If the hip issue requires the starting strong safety to miss significant time, P.J. Locke will likely see more opportunities for reps with the starting secondary.

    Locke suffered a hyperextended knee at training camp practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Locke went down with a noncontact injury, and he was forced to leave the practice early. The safety appears to have avoided a major injury, and the team's doctors aren't overly concerned. Locke is set to operate as a top rotational piece behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson in the secondary with Dallas this season, and in his absence, Alijah Clark is a top candidate to see an increase in reps at practice.

  • Jadeveon Clowney: Visits with Cleveland

    The Browns hosted Clowney on a visit Wednesday, Jacob Roach of brownswire.com reports. After signing a late deal with the Cowboys in 2025, Clowney participated in 13 regular-season games. The defensive end is now looking for a new home and seems to be considering a reunion with the Browns. Clowney played the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the team, racking up 65 tackles (38 solo), including 27.0 sacks, adding five passes defensed and three forced fumbles over 26 regular-season games. A return to the Browns could help the defense attempt to replace reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett's production in the aggregate.

  • Cowboys' Marist Liufau: Bulks up ahead of position switch

In anticipation of the move from off-ball linebacker to the edge for Dallas, Liufau has bulked up this offseason. "I'm excited, [it's] just another opportunity to get on the field," Liufau said. "At the end of the day, it's not something I can't do. I'm excited to really showcase what I can do. I will be fine." Liufau is expected to get more opportunities to rush the passer under Parker. A third-round pick in 2024, Liufau has appeared in all 34 regular-season games since entering the league but logged just 18 percent of the defensive snaps under DC Matt Eberflus last season. With Parker now at the controls on the defensive side, Liufau could get more reps in tandem with Rashan Gary.

That's significant, seeing as he missed 12 games with a knee injury in 2025. Overshown made an impact in 2024, with 90 tackles (56 solo), including 5.0 sacks, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery across 13 regular-season games.
