Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Returning to Bolts
Perryman and the Chargers agreed to terms on a one-year contract Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Perryman will return to the Chargers for a third consecutive season (and ninth campaign since being drafted by the team in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft). He saw his production dip in 2025, finishing with 47 tackles (30 solo) and three pass defenses across 10 regular-season games. He missed seven games last season, five of which were due to an ankle injury and two more because of a suspension. Perryman's best days are behind him, but he'll fortify the Chargers' depth at inside linebacker behind projected starters Troy Dye and Daiyan Henley.

Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Records 47 tackles in 10 games
Perryman concluded the 2025 regular season with 47 tackles (30 solo) and three pass breakups in 10 appearances.
The inside linebacker missed five games with an ankle injury and two more due to a suspension stemming from a Week 16 hit on Cowboys receiver Ryan Flournoy. Perryman did start all 10 games he played in as well as the Chargers' playoff matchup with the Patriots. The veteran has played on one-year deals for each of the last three seasons, and he is set to become a free agent again.

Perryman has served his suspension and will be available for the Chargers' wild-card game against the Patriots on Sunday. The veteran linebacker logged 47 tackles (30 solo) and three passes across 10 regular-season games.

Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Receives two-game suspension
Perryman received a two-game suspension from the NFL on Tuesday for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players," Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Perryman's suspension stems from a Week 16 hit on Cowboys wideout Ryan Flournoy, during which he was flagged for unnecessary roughness after delivering a forcible blow to the helmet while the latter was on the ground, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The 33-year-old linebacker will now miss the Chargers' final two regular-season games. He appeared in 10 contests this season, recording 47 total tackles and three passes defensed. While Perryman is sidelined, Troy Dye may have a larger role with the Chargers' first-team defense.

Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Green light to play Week 7
Perryman (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Perryman was a full participant in practice all week, which prompted the Chargers to activate the veteran linebacker from injured reserve Saturday. He missed the Chargers' last five games due to an ankle injury, but he has been cleared to return for Week 7 after going through pregame warmups. Perryman will return to a starting role at inside linebacker alongside Daiyan Henley while Marlowe Wax and Del'Shawn Phillips provide rotational depth.

Chargers' Denzel Perryman: Activated from injured reserve
The Chargers activated Perryman (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday.
Perryman is on track to return from a five-game absence due to an ankle injury he sustained during the Chargers' Week 1 win over the Chiefs, though he's still listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts. The veteran linebacker could see a substantial workload in his return if Troy Dye is unable to play after not practicing all week due to a thumb injury.
