Steelers' Eric Rowe: Back on active roster
The Steelers elevated Rowe to the active roster Sunday.
Rowe will join Pittsburgh's active roster for the fourth game in a row ahead of Monday's playoff opener against Buffalo. The 31-year-old was signed with the Steelers' practice squad in late November, and he's played a significant role while starting safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been sidelined over the past three weeks. Rowe has played at least 86 percent of defensive snaps in each of these contests, tallying 29 tackles and two passes defended over that span. But, with Fitzpatrick set to return, it's unclear how much playing time Rowe will see Monday.

Eric Rowe: Heads back to practice squad
The Steelers reverted Rowe to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Rowe was elevated for the third time for the Steelers' regular-season finale against the Ravens. He led the team with 12 tackles (10 solo) in addition to one pass defended and a forced fumble, and he accumulated 29 tackles (22 solo) in his three appearances. Rowe was elevated from the practice squad due to Damontae Kazee's three-game suspension, but the latter will return for the postseason. Still, given Rowe's production in his limited playing time, he could be called up for the Steelers' playoff game against the Bills on Sunday.

Rowe briefly left Saturday's contest after sustaining a neck injury in the first half. He had six tackles prior to his exit.

The Steelers elevated Rowe from their practice squad to their active roster Friday.
The veteran has stepped into a starting safety role over the last couple of games with both Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Trenton Thompson (neck) dealing with injuries, and Rowe could very well assume the same duties if one or both of Fitzpatrick and Thompson miss more time in Week 18. In Rowe's two games as a starter, the 31-year-old has recorded 17 total tackles and one interception.

Rowe was elevated to the Steelers' active roster Saturday, Teresa Varley of the team's official website reports.
Rowe was called up for his first game of the season in Week 16 and ultimately played 61 of 64 defensive snaps. He accumulated seven tackles (three solo) and an interception in the process. With Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Trenton Thompson (neck) again out, Rowe could be in store for a similar workload.

His expanded role came with Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee), Trenton Thompson (neck) and Damontae Kazee (suspension) all absent, circumstances that put Rowe in prime position to be called up for another start Week 17. Fitzpatrick could be dealing with a multi-week injury, while Kazee is suspended for the remainder of the regular season.

Steelers' Eric Rowe: Picks off pass in 2023 debut
Rowe recorded seven tackles (three solo) and an interception in Saturday's 34-11 win over Cincinnati in Week 16.
With Pittsburgh managing a depleted secondary that was missing Damontae Kazee (suspension) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee), the team elevated Rowe off injured reserve to start at safety. He played on 95 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps and finished second on the team with seven stops while notching his first pickoff since 2020. Kazee is out for the regular season and Fitzpatrick is reportedly looking at a multi-week absence, so Rowe has a good chance of drawing another start next Sunday in Seattle.

Panthers' Eric Rowe: Finds new opportunity in Carolina
The Panthers signed Rowe on Thursday.
Rowe is now set to join Carolina in 2023 following his four-year stint in Miami. The veteran safety is currently heading into his ninth NFL campaign and will likely add secondary depth behind Vonn Bell, Xavier Woods and Jeremy Chinn, but Rowe proved that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank given the 63 tackles, three sacks and three forced fumbles he registered across 15 matchups played this past season.
