  • Brad Sorensen: Released by Vikings Friday

Sorensen was cut by the Vikings on Friday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Sorensen resigned with the team Wednesday following Teddy Bridgewater's gruesome leg injury. He hoped to compete with Joel Stave for the backup role, but the team has opted to go with Stave. Shaun Hill figures to lineup under center in Week 1.

  • Vikings' Brad Sorensen: Re-signing Wednesday

Sorensen is re-signing with the Vikings on Wednesday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Teddy Bridgewater suffered a season-ending knee injury at Tuesday's practice, leaving Shaun Hill as the presumed top quarterback. Sorensen may still find it tough to make the final roster, as he was released by the Vikings on Aug. 20, with the team cutting him instead of Joel Stave or Taylor Heinicke (ankle). Sorensen may just be another arm for practice and/or the final preseason game.

  • Vikings' Brad Sorensen: Signs with Vikings

The Vikings signed Sorensen on Saturday, the team's official site reports.

A seventh round pick of the Chargers in the 2013 NFL Draft, Sorensen has been a mainstay of the practice squad for the bulk of his career. With Taylor Heinicke (ankle) on the pine for the foreseeable future, Sorenson will compete with undrafted rookie Joel Stave for the third-string role under center in Minnesota.

  • Chargers' Brad Sorensen: Lands on active roster

Sorensen was promoted from the Chargers' practice squad Saturday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Philip Rivers is dealing with flu-like symptoms, but he's still expected to make his 157 straight start Sunday meaning the Sorensen promotion was likely for precautionary reasons only. The 27-year-old is expected to be the third-string quarterback against the Chiefs.
