  • Ryan Spadola: Waived by Lions

Spadola (undisclosed) was waived by the Lions on Tuesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.

Spadola was deemed the most expendable of the Lions' receivers Tuesday. The 26-year-old has a chance to latch on elsewhere considering his veteran presence but the clock is ticking.

Spadola (undisclosed) cleared waivers Wednesday and was placed on injured reserve, ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports.

Spadola was waived Tuesday after suffering an undisclosed injury in training camp. Barring an injury settlement, he's likely stuck on IR through the end of the season.

  • Lions' Ryan Spadola: Clearly on roster bubble

Spadola is a "fringe contender" for the Lions' remaining roster spots at wide receiver, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.

Spadola is coming off a season entirely wiped out by a pectoral injury and will likely need to separate himself on special teams in order to secure one of what is likely just one or two open roster spots at receiver. He made some nice catches in spring practices and was specifically praised by head coach Jim Caldwell during rookie minicamp, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com, so he at least appears to have some momentum heading into training camp.

  • Lions' Ryan Spadola: Resides on IR

Spadola (pectoral) is currently on the Lions' Reserve/Injured list.

Since going undrafted out of Lehigh in 2013, Spadola had bounced around the league before joining the Lions' practice squad in 2015. He then signed a futures contract with the team at the end of the season, but suffered a torn pectoral muscle over the summer and was placed on injured reserve shortly thereafter. His future with the team beyond the 2016 campaign is uncertain.
