Top Tank Carder News

  • Tank Carder: Let go by Cleveland

The Browns released Carder (knee) on Tuesday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Carder's dismissal ends his five-year stint in Cleveland after the 29-year-old joined the Browns on a waiver claim in September 2012. The TCU product served as a backup middle linebacker during his run in Cleveland, offering his most significant impact on the team's special-teams units. Carder was deemed expendable after the Browns reached agreement Monday with fellow linebacker Mychal Kendricks on a one-year deal.

  • Browns' Tank Carder: Remains in Cleveland

Carder (knee) signed a contract with the Browns on Monday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

Carder spent the 2017 season on injured reserve after tearing his ACL during a preseason game. The 29-year-old was a special teams captain for the Browns in 2016 and will likely have a reserve role this year following the emergence of Joe Schobert at starting middle linebacker.

  • Browns' Tank Carder: Placed on injured reserve

Carder (knee) was placed on the Browns' injured reserve after tearing his ACL in Monday's exhibition matchup versus the Giants, Tom Withers of the Aurora Sentinel reports.

Carder, a special teams' captain last season, was competing with Joe Schobert for the starting middle linebacker role. He has played in 77 games with the team since 2012, but will now be sidelined until next season.

  • Browns' Tank Carder: Out for season with torn ACL

Carder has a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2017 season, Mary Kat Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

The loss of Carder is a tough blow for Cleveland, as he was expected to start at inside linebacker this year. Carder will undergo surgery in the coming days, clearing the way for Joe Schobert to fill in where necessary.

  • Browns' Tank Carder: Ready to play

Carder (concussion) is active Sunday against the Cowboys.

Carder sustained a concussion last week against the Jets, but evidently has passed through concussion protocol and should be set for his usual workload on special teams.

  • Browns' Tank Carder: Enters concussion protocol

Carder entered concussion protocol Monday, ESPN's Tony Grossi reports.

Carder, a reserve linebacker, didn't log a single snap on defense Sunday against the Jets, but was on the field for the majority of special teams action. It's unclear when he sustained the concussion, though. However, he is now subject to the NFL's concussion protocol and is questionable to play in Week 9.
