Welcome to our live coverage of today's massive showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. This marks the first game between these two teams since Seattle's 41-6 shellacking of San Francisco in the 2025 NFC divisional round.

As expected, both teams have had strong starts to the 2026 season. The Seahawks are 3-1 despite an injury to quarterback Sam Darnold that sidelined him for the majority of Seattle's first two games. Seattle has continued to receive stellar play from Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who currently leads the NFL with six touchdown receptions. The Seahawks' defense is coming off a solid performance against the Chargers, in which they forced a season-high four turnovers.

San Francisco is one of just three teams that are still undefeated. The 49ers have received MVP-caliber play so far from quarterback Brock Purdy, who is tied with the league lead with 11 touchdown passes (against just one interception). San Francisco's defense, which is third in the league in fewest points allowed, will look to exploit a Seattle offense that is 31st in the NFL on third down.

Which team will come out on top? To find out, follow along in our live blog below, as we'll be providing updates, highlights and analysis throughout the game.

49ers strike first!

An interception by Renardo Green sets up Purdy's two-yard touchdown pass to Mike Evans as San Francisco takes an early 7-0 lead.

Evans has been a red zone machine so far for the 49ers. Despite being hampered by injuries, Evans already has three touchdowns this season.

Quick 49ers punt

San Francisco quickly punts as Purdy is unable to complete his first two pass attempts. Jaden Dugger immediately sacks Darnold for a seven-yard loss, so both defenses making their marks early.

Purdy can elevate MVP standing

I moved Purdy to No. 2 in my early MVP watch story last week. He could become the early MVP front runner with a winning performance today.

Purdy has thrown at least two touchdown passes in every game this season. He has yet to throw an interception on American soil; his only pick this season was vs. the Rams in Australia back in Week 1.

Big question facing Seattle

The Seahawks' offense is 31st in the NFL this season in third down efficiency. Some of that is a byproduct of not having Sam Darnold for the majority of their first two games of the season.

Rest assured that the 49ers will be focused on forcing Seattle into third and obvious pass situations. When that happens, they will undoubtedly rolled coverage over to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is coming off of his least productive game of the season. This should give Cooper Kupp some opportunities to make an impact.

Last time we met

Seattle waxed the 49ers, 41-6, in the NFC divisional round enroute to winning the Super Bowl.

Rasid Shaheed started the game with a 95-yard kickoff return that proved to be the game-winning score. Current Chief Kenneth Walker III scored three touchdowns in a game that was never close.

The 49ers, per usual, had a host of injuries that surely contributed to the lopsided score. For example, they lost TE George Kittle to a season-ending injury during the previous week's win over the Eagles.

49ers are much healthier today, although they continue to deal with an alarming number of injuries.

49ers inactives

The 49res will have Mykel Williams and Upton Stout, but they will continue to be without Nick Bosa and will also be without Pro Bowl FB Kyle Juszczyk. Juszczyk's absence will impact the 49ers' short passing game and the running game today.

Seahawks inactives

Seahawks are relatively healthy for this game. As noted below, Jalen Milroe will serve as the team's emergency QB today.

Welcome!

Welcome our coverage of today's big showdown between the Seahawks and the 49ers. Should be a great game between two Super Bowl contenders.

Perfect day for football in Seattle. Sunny, nearly 60 degrees in very little wind.

We'll have both team's inactive reports shortly.
