The Patriots released WR Chris Harper on Tuesday, Jeff Howe of The Boston Herald reports.
Harper was active for the Patriots' season opener, but the team decided to go in a different direction. It's not yet clear who will replace Harper on the roster, but the Patriots figure to at least consider promoting Kenbrell Thompkins from the practice squad.
