Pelicans' Micah Peavy: Starting Saturday
Peavy will start Saturday's game against the Hawks, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
The rookie second-rounder will make his first career start due to Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Herbert Jones (back) being sidelined. Peavy has logged double-digit minutes in three straight appearances, averaging 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 52.2 percent from the field in 18.0 minutes per contest during that span.

Pelicans' Micah Peavy: Tallies season-high 16 points
Peavy finished Monday's 126-109 loss to Oklahoma City with 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four rebounds and four assists over 24 minutes.
Peavy came out of nowhere to score a season-high 16 points, having scored a total of 14 points across his previous nine appearances. While this was a great performance, all it does is highlight the fact that New Orleans is willing to try anything to get results at this point. To be clear, Peavy is not someone who needs to be prioritized outside of very deep leagues.

Peavy notched zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and three rebounds over 18 minutes during Wednesday's 101-99 win over the Mavericks.
The absence of Jordan Poole (knee) paved the way for Peavy to play, but he was unable to take advantage of the opportunity, missing his lone field-goal attempt. If Poole can't go Saturday against San Antonio, Peavy may likely see the court for extended minutes again.

Peavy logged seven points (3-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt), one rebound and three steals across 21 minutes of Friday's 107-97 preseason win over Melbourne United.
Peavy was selected by the Pelicans with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. A versatile defender out of Georgetown, Peavy averaged 2.5 steals in his two Summer League appearances, and he was very active on that end Friday. There is plenty of competition on the wings of the second unit with guys like Saddiq Bey and Jordan Hawkins, but Peavy is off to a great start.

Pelicans' Micah Peavy: Won't play Wednesday
Peavy (rest) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.
After making an impact defensively against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday, Peavy won't suit up for the second game of a back-to-back during the Las Vegas Summer League. The next opportunity for him to return to the floor will be Friday against the Pacers.

Peavy (ankle) contributed two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three steals and two rebounds across 22 minutes in Tuesday's 93-87 Summer League loss to the Trail Blazers.
Peavy returned to game action after missing Saturday's loss to the Lakers due to an ankle injury, though he was quiet on the offensive end Tuesday. However, the 2025 second-round pick racked up a game-high-tying mark in steals and has recorded multiple swipes in each of his two Summer League appearances. Peavy spent his final collegiate season at Georgetown, averaging 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals across 37.0 minutes per game in 32 outings.

Peavy's ankle injury is not believed to be serious, but he is being held out Saturday and was seen in street clothes. His next chance to take the court will come Tuesday against the Trail Blazers.

Peavy was selected by the Pelicans with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Wizards traded this pick to the Pelicans, who used it to select Peavy, a versatile defender out of Georgetown with strong two-way potential. He enjoyed a breakout campaign as a fifth-year senior, averaging 17.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three over 32 games. While there are some concerns that his perimeter shooting may regress to his career average of 32.2 percent across 159 games, Peavy's ability to guard multiple positions makes him an intriguing addition to New Orleans' roster.
