  • Pistons' Javonte Green: Joins Detroit on one-year deal

Green and the Pistons agreed to a one-year deal Monday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

Green, who is entering his seventh NBA campaign, split the 2024-25 season between the Pelicans and Cavaliers. He appeared in 68 total regular-season games, posting averages of 5.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 1.0 steals in 18.5 minutes. Minutes won't be easy to come by in Detroit, however.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Limited role continues Sunday

Green accumulated two points (0-1 FG, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds over seven minutes during Sunday's 129-109 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Green continues to play a minimal role, logging no more than 10 minutes for the seventh time in the past eight games. The Game 4 loss now sees Cleveland on the brink of elimination, needing to win all three remaining games, starting with Game 5 on Tuesday.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Scores 11 points in win

Green posted 11 points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and two steals across 12 minutes during Monday's 138-83 win over Miami in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Green played a combined six minutes in the postseason prior to Monday. Still, the Cavaliers handled business early in Game 4, allowing Green and several others to get some garbage-time run. Green is not likely to be in the regular rotation most nights going forward.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Won't start vs. Miami

Green will come off the bench during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal-round series against the Heat on Sunday.

After starting the regular-season finale for Cleveland against Indiana, Green will be on the second unit for Game 1. In 49 games in a reserve role, the 30-year-old forward averaged 4.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Starting Sunday

Green is in the Cavaliers' starting lineup against the Pacers on Sunday.

Green will make his 19th start of the season Sunday and his first for the Cavaliers since signing with Cleveland in February. Green has averaged 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds over 8.9 minutes per game over his last 10 outings, though he should get significant run time in the Cavaliers' regular-season finale.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Sees 23 minutes in loss

Green closed with three points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Thursday's 114-112 loss to the Pacers.

This was Green's largest workload since Feb. 13, as the Cavaliers were without several key players Thursday. With the No. 1 seed locked up, the Cavaliers could be considering more maintenance for their rotation with two games remaining in the regular season.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Officially signs with Cleveland

Green (not injury related) signed a contract with the Cavaliers on Sunday.

As expected, Green has joined Cleveland after agreeing to a buyout with the Pelicans last week. The veteran averaged 21.8 minutes per game across 50 appearances (18 starts) with New Orleans. However, he'll likely see a reduced role with his new squad, as he'll have to compete with Max Strus, Sam Merrill, Isaac Okoro and De'Andre Hunter for reserve minutes. Green is unlikely to make his Cavaliers debut Sunday against Memphis, and if that's the case, his next chance to suit up will come Tuesday in Orlando.

  • Cavaliers' Javonte Green: Bought out, joining Cleveland

Greens agreed to a buyout with the Pelicans on Wednesday and is expected to sign with the Cavaliers upon clearing waivers, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Green inked a one-year deal with the Pelicans in August and appeared in 50 games this season, including 18 starts. He averaged 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals across 21.8 minutes. Once he clears waivers and finalizes a deal with Cleveland, he'll fill a depth role on the wing and at forward for the Cavaliers. He'll likely struggle to approach the playing time he had been receiving with the Pelicans, however, as he'll have to compete with the likes of Max Strus, Sam Merrill, Isaac Okoro (shoulder) and De'Andre Hunter for minutes off the bench.

  • Pelicans' Javonte Green: Displays two-way play in start

Green finished with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and five steals over 34 minutes during Thursday's 140-133 overtime win over the Kings.

Green got a starting nod Thursday due to the absence of Zion Williamson (rest), making the most of that extended time on the court by putting forth a two-way showcase that including leading the team in steals and finishing second among Pelicans players in rebounds. Green set a new season high in steals, previously holding a season-best mark of four dimes, which he has accomplished twice. He also matched a season high in rebounds, a total he has recorded in five appearances.

Green accumulated six points (0-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-7 FT), six rebounds, two assists and three steals over 29 minutes during Friday's 118-116 loss to the Celtics.

Green got the starting nod in this game due to the absence of Zion Williamson (illness), but he struggled badly from the field and could've easily gone scoreless hadn't it been for his efficiency from the charity stripe. Expect Green to return to a bench role once Williamson is ready to return, which might happen as soon as Monday when the Pelicans take on the Nuggets.
