  • Clippers' Darius Garland: Battles foul trouble in loss

Garland finished with 21 points (8-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 31 minutes before fouling out of Wednesday's 126-121 Play-In Game loss to the Warriors. Garland battled foul trouble all night, eventually fouling out in the dying minutes. Although his numbers were fine, he never really found any rhythm, ultimately contributing to what was a devastating loss. With that said, his end to the season was certainly a positive one, positioning him to play a major role next season. In six games over the final two weeks, he averaged 17.0 points, 30. rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.7 three-pointers.

  • Clippers' Darius Garland: Returns to lineup with 16 points

Garland racked up 16 points (5-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and three steals over 41 minutes during Friday's 116-97 loss to the Trail Blazers. Garland rejoined the first unit after sitting out Wednesday's game against the Thunder. Garland has averaged 20.2 points, 6.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds since joining the Clippers. While his point total suffered, Garland exceeded his usual production in the secondary categories. For the Clippers to achieve maximum success, Garland needs to get closer to Kawhi Leonard's production, and a few of his lines have shown the potential to get there.

  • Clippers' Darius Garland: Cleared for Friday

Garland (toe) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Trail Blazers, NBA writer Justin Russo reports. He's averaging 16.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals through three April appearances.

  • Clippers' Darius Garland: Won't play Wednesday

Garland has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Thunder due to left toe injury management. Garland will sit out the second half of this back-to-back set, though he'll likely return for Friday's game in Portland. With the 26-year-old point guard out, Jordan Miller and John Collins are candidates to step into the starting five. Kobe Sanders and Kris Dunn could also see increased playing time in Garland's absence.

  • Clippers' Darius Garland: Posts 22 points

Garland had 22 points (9-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal over 28 minutes during Tuesday's 116-103 win over Dallas. The Clippers got out to a hot start, with Garland making a solid contribution right away. He quieted down while the Mavericks cut into the Clippers' significant lead, but the rest of the team rallied to put the game out of reach. Garland's most glaring deficiency in recent games is in the assist column. The point guard has amassed only 17 assists over the past four games, well below his seasonal average of 6.7 assists per game.

Garland logged a high shot volume but had trouble finding the bottom of the basket during the defeat. Although Garland has been generally productive, his scoring results have been wildly erratic, alternating between prolific totals and underwhelming performances. Although assists have padded his fantasy totals, the team needs more consistency from the guard down the stretch.

The veteran point guard made a big impact in his return, becoming the first Clippers player in franchise history with 40-plus points, 10-plus assists and seven-plus three-pointers in a game. This is the kind of production the Clippers were envisioning from Garland after acquiring him from the Cavaliers in early February in exchange for James Harden. Garland pieced together yet another impressive all-around performance, but it wasn't enough to will LA to a victory. He scored 20-plus points for a fifth straight game and recorded his first double-double since returning from a right big toe sprain by making his mark as a facilitator. The Clippers will gear up for a back-to-back set later in the week, so it's possible that Garland will sit either Wednesday or Thursday in an effort to keep him healthy.

Garland closed with 23 points (7-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), one rebound, seven assists and two steals over 30 minutes during Monday's 126-118 win over New York. Garland is still sitting out at least one game during back-to-back sets, but his production is starting to find signs of life. He followed up a 21-point performance against the Grizzlies with another total over 20 points, drilling five three-pointers in the process. His perimeter game and assist production are his strongest suits, and Monday's line is reminiscent of the totals he compiled with the Cavaliers earlier in the season.
