  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Set for second year with Nets

Johnson (rest) is getting ready to reprise his role as a two-way player for Brooklyn in 2026-27. Johnson signed a two-way contract with the Nets in June after occupying a two-way roster spot with the club a year ago. Such a role leaves Johnson more likely to begin the new season as a featured part of the G League's Long Island Nets as opposed to the NBA squad, unless injuries strike the parent team at some point between training camp and the regular season.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Double-double in SL loss

Johnson totaled 20 points (9-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 10 rebounds and five steals over 32 minutes in Saturday's 83-76 Summer League loss to the Hawks. Johnson was dominant despite the loss, matching teammate Danny Wolf with a game-high 20 points as part of a double-double effort. Of Johnson's 10 rebounds, five came on the offensive glass. He also made his presence felt defensively with five steals, while no other player recorded more than three swipes. The Auburn product saw significant run down the stretch of the 2025-26 regular season with the Nets, averaging 8.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 20.5 minutes per contest across 17 appearances.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Full stat line in SL win

Johnson registered 19 points (7-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 32 minutes during Monday's 100-79 California Classic Summer League win over Warriors Blue. Johnson turned in an extremely efficient performance and finished as Brooklyn's second-leading scorer behind Egor Demin (23 points). Johnson also tied for second on the team in rebounds while tying for the team lead in steals. He scored in double figures and grabbed at least seven boards in both of his California Classic appearances this summer.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Available Monday

Johnson (undisclosed) is available for Monday's California Classic Summer League game against Warriors Blue, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports. Johnson was held out of Sunday's win over the Bucks -- the second leg of a back-to-back-to-back set -- though he'll return to action in Brooklyn's final California Classic contest. The two-way player started at center and logged 25 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Kings, during which he supplied 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Logs double-double in season finale

Johnson provided 16 points (6-14 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 136-101 loss to the Raptors. Johnson got a chance to show his stuff in the final weeks of the season. He logged the first double-double of his career in the final game of the season, filling in for Nic Claxton (finger). If the Nets shake things up and move Claxton in the offseason, the Auburn product could find himself in a favorable position on the depth chart.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Contributes 12 points off bench

Johnson provided 12 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 26 minutes during Monday's 134-99 loss to the Trail Blazers. With the Nets riding out the final stretch of a losing season, Johnson is beginning to make his way onto the streaming radar in deep fantasy leagues. Across his last six contests, Johnson has averaged 9.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks in 23.9 minutes per game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field.

  • Nets' Chaney Johnson: Unavailable Saturday

Johnson (not injury related) is not available for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves. Johnson signed a two-way pact with Brooklyn on Friday and has yet to join the team. His next opportunity to make his NBA debut will come Monday against the Warriors, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him head straight to the club's G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. The undrafted rookie out of Auburn appeared in 16 G League games for the Cleveland Charge before latching on with Brooklyn, during which he averaged 12.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 25.5 minutes per contest.

The undrafted rookie will provide frontcourt depth for the Nets, though he'll likely spend the majority of his time with their G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.
