  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Undergoes successful surgery

The Grizzlies announced Tuesday that Wells (toe) underwent a successful procedure to stabilize his right great toe and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Wells won't return this season after undergoing a procedure to repair a tendon avulsion fracture, though he is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The 22-year-old appeared in 69 regular-season games in his sophomore season, starting all of them and finishing with averages of 12.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.1 blocks and 0.9 steals while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from deep across 26.4 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Remains out against Suns

Wells (toe) won't play in Monday's game against Phoenix.

Wells will miss his fourth consecutive contest. At this point, it's hard to determine if he will be available before the end of the campaign. With the Grizzlies rolling out a lengthy injury report heading into Monday's game, Cedric Coward and GG Jackson are currently the favorites to take on a large portion of the load on the offensive end.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Set to undergo toe procedure

Wells has been diagnosed with a tendon avulsion fracture in his right great toe and will undergo a procedure for stabilization purposes.

The Grizzlies will likely update Wells' timetable after he undergoes the toe procedure, but with just a little over two weeks left in the regular season, this will almost assuredly end Wells' 2025-26 campaign. Rayan Rupert, DeJon Jarreau and Jahmai Mashack will help fill the void in Wells' absence.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Ruled out Saturday

Wells (toe) won't play in Saturday's game against Chicago.

Wells will miss his third consecutive game. With Cam Spencer (back) and Taylor Hendricks (thumb) also on the injury report, Cedric Coward and Rayan Rupert may see increased minutes Saturday.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Won't play Friday

Wells is out for Friday's game against the Rockets due to right toe soreness.

Wells is shelved for a second consecutive contest with the issue. Cedric Coward and Cam Spencer have a clearer pathway to minutes at small forward Friday. Wells' next chance to play come Saturday when the Grizzlies face the Bulls.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Won't go Wednesday

Wells is out for Wednesday's game against San Antonio due to right big toe soreness.

Wells departed Monday's game against the Hawks with a foot injury, but the soreness is apparently isolated to his big toe. Regardless, Wells won't be able to suit up Wednesday as a result of the injury. He's one of nine players listed as out or doubtful for Wednesday's contest, leaving plenty minutes to go around for whomever Memphis clears to play against the Spurs.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Exits early Monday

Wells exited Monday's 146-107 loss to the Hawks with 10:23 remaining in the fourth quarter due to right foot soreness and was unable to return. He finished with four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 20 minutes.

Shortly after Wells' departure, the Grizzlies labeled him doubtful to return, and he unsurprisingly never checked back in while the game had already descended into garbage time. His status will be worth monitoring ahead of Wednesday's game against the Spurs. If the second-year wing is forced to miss time, Rayan Rupert, DeJon Jarreau and Tyler Burton could all be candidates to absorb some of his minutes.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Iffy for Friday

Wells is questionable for Friday's game against the Pistons with a right shoulder contusion.

Friday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, so there's a good chance Wells receives a maintenance day. He looked sharp in Thursday's loss to Dallas with 23 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 32 minutes.

Wells posted a team-high 23 points, marking his second 20-point game over his past five appearances, which is notable because he has only seven such games across 64 appearances this season. While not prolific, Wells has been steady since the All-Star break, averaging 15.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals in 26.1 minutes per game. He hasn't missed a game since Feb. 7.

Over that stretch, the second-year forward is averaging 14.9 points, 2.8 boards, 2.4 threes, 1.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 25.6 minutes while shooting 51.7 percent from the floor and 45.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Wells posted 12 points (5-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 26 minutes during Monday's 123-114 loss to Sacramento.

Wells scored an empty 12 points amid what has been a nice stretch of offensive production. In four games over the past two weeks, he has put up 16.8 points, 1.3 steals and 2.0 three-pointers across 26.0 minutes per game. Although his overall ceiling is relatively limited, he definitely deserves some attention for anyone seeking points and threes.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Wells: Goes off for 25 points

Wells finished Saturday's 136-120 loss to the Heat with 25 points (10-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals across 27 minutes.

Wells tied his season high in scoring while finishing with the Grizzlies' second-highest point tally and reaching double digits for the ninth straight game. As long as he's in the starting lineup, Wells could be a steady fantasy contributor.
