Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Rough shooting night
Jones racked up five points (1-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes during Monday's 126-109 loss to the Thunder.
Jones struggled to find his rhythm offensively, continuing what has been a frustrating start to the season. While his steal numbers have been adequate, the other aspects of his game have left a lot to be desired. He has scored fewer than eight points in three of the past five games, despite playing at least 26 minutes in all five appearances. He remains a viable fantasy asset, albeit one who should be viewed as a specialist rather than an all-around contributor.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Drops 11 in loss
Jones had 11 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 125-117 loss to the Trail Blazers.
Jones extends his streak of logging at least one steal to seven, averaging 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.1 blocks and 2.1 threes in that span. While Jones has not been producing flashy numbers, he has been quite efficient from beyond the arc, shooting 43.8 percent.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Scores 11 points in win
Jones closed Tuesday's 116-112 win over the Hornets with 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal over 36 minutes.
With Zion Williamson (hamstring) expected to miss at least one week, Jones could potentially see a short-term boost in offensive usage. But even on the nights in which he's not too involved offensively, most of Jones' fantasy appeal comes from his defensive upside and ability to knock down three-pointers.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Scores 11 in loss
Jones scored 11 points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and added two rebounds over 23 minutes in Monday's 122-90 loss to Boston.
Jones' production may have been a victim of game script, as he and all the starters were likely pulled due to the blowout nature of the second half. However, he was able to bounce back in the three-pointers category, drilling two in four attempts after missing all five of his attempts Friday against the Spurs.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Flirts with double-double in loss
Jones amassed 17 points (6-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block over 36 minutes in Wednesday's 128-122 loss to the Grizzlies.
Jones had an all-around performance on the stat sheet Wednesday, and it's also worth noting he led all Pelicans in minutes played. If Jones can maintain these kinds of performances on both offense and defense, he will be a viable and desirable asset for fantasy managers moving forward.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Goes through practice
Jones (ankle) went through a full practice Thursday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Jones missed the first two preseason games with a left ankle sprain, but Guillory notes that the defensive-minded forward is fine now. Presumably, Jones should be ready to go for Tuesday's preseason action against the Rockets.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Out once again
Jones (ankle) is out for Saturday's game against the Melbourne Phoenix, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.
Jones will miss a second straight preseason matchup as he nurses a left ankle sprain. It's unclear whether he'll be able to suit up at any point in the preseason, although he should have time to recover since the Pelicans' next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 14, against the Rockets.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Dealing with ankle sprain
Jones missed Friday's preseason game against Melbourne United with a left ankle sprain.
This is a new injury for Jones, but it's not clear how serious it is. Jones underwent surgery Feb. 12 to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, but he was deemed 100 percent heading into camp. For now, he should be considered questionable for the remaining preseason games.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Full go ahead of camp
Pelicans executive vice president Joe Dumars said Monday that Jones (shoulder) has been scrimmaging non-stop for the past couple weeks, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Jones underwent surgery Feb. 12 to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, but he's been at "full speed" for a while now, Dumars said. This means he shouldn't face any limitations ahead of training camp. Jones averaged 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals through 20 regular-season games in 2024-25, and he's currently penciled in as a starter alongside Jordan Poole and Trey Murphy.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Inks extension with Pels
Jones (shoulder) agreed to a three-year, $68 million contract extension with New Orleans on Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Jones will now be on the books for the next five years and has a player option for the 2029-30 campaign. He's currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery to repair a right torn rotator cuff but is expected back at full strength ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season. Jones averaged 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals through 20 games last season before suffering the shoulder injury.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: On mend from surgery
The Pelicans announced that Jones underwent successful surgery Feb. 12 to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
Jones had the surgery performed in Los Angeles one day after the Pelicans announced that he would miss the rest of the 2024-25 season. Before going down with the injury Jan. 8, Jones appeared in 20 games and averaged 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 32.4 minutes per contest. He's expected to make a full recovery from surgery in advance of training camp in the fall.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Expected to miss rest of season
Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin said Tuesday that he expects Jones (shoulder) to miss the remainder of the season, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Jones is still recovering from the posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder that he sustained Jan. 8. He was spotted getting up some light shooting last week, but the Pelicans never offered any indication there was never any indication that he was close to returning to game action. Griffin didn't reveal whether or not Jones will get surgery to address the injury, or if the forward will be able to heal through rest and rehab. In 20 appearances before suffering the injury, Jones averaged 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.1 three-pointers in 32.4 minutes.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Takes part in shootaround Monday
Jones (shoulder) was spotted getting up some shots during the Pelicans' morning shootaround Monday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Jones remains without a timetable to make his return to game action as he recovers from the posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder that he sustained Jan. 8. Guillory notes that Jones' presence at shootaround marks the first time that the forward has been able to do anything on the court since suffering the injury. He's still likely weeks away from playing, and a clearer return date won't come into focus until he's taking contact in practices.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Out indefinitely with labrum tear
The Pelicans announced Friday that Jones has been diagnosed with a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder following an MRI and is considered out indefinitely.
Injuries have played a big part in the Pelicans limping to a 7-31 start to the season, and the long-term loss of Jones represents another major blow. Though the Pelicans aren't offering a timeline for his return, injuries of this sort often entail multi-month absences, regardless of whether surgery is necessary. Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Trey Murphy (ankle) should eventually return from injuries and soak up more minutes at forward in Jones' absence, but in the short term, Brandon Boston, Jordan Hawkins and Javonte Green could all be thrust into larger roles.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Won't play against Philadelphia
Jones (shoulder) is listed as out for Friday's game versus the 76ers.
Jones will miss Friday's contest after suffering a right shoulder sprain against Portland on Wednesday. Brandon Boston and Javonte Green are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. Jones' next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with Boston.

Pelicans' Herbert Jones: Won't return Wednesday
Jones (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers. He finishes with zero points (0-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), an assist and two steals across 18 minutes.
Jones suffered an unspecified right shoulder injury -- the same shoulder that he strained earlier this season -- Wednesday and won't return. Considering the Pelicans are trailing by 22 points with one quarter to play, it's possible they're playing it safe with Jones. However, his injury history warrants additional attention ahead of the Pelicans' matchup with Philadelphia on Friday.
