  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Scores 12, adds four steals

Kuminga finished with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-0 FT), a rebound, three assists, four steals and a block across 30 minutes in Wednesday's 131-106 win over the Heat.

Kuminga's regular-season debut with Minnesota featured limited rebounding but excellent defensive production, with his four steals showing how he can contribute in other areas, since he'll likely hold a secondary role in an offense monopolized by Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball. Kuminga's fantasy outlook will improve if he maintains this playing time and contributes more consistently in peripheral stats, since he's not expected to be a go-to scoring option anytime soon.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Expected to suit up Wednesday

Kuminga (rest) is expected to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.

Kuminga joined several other regulars on the inactive list for Friday's preseason finale, but he should play Wednesday. The 24-year-old forward is ready to prove himself in a starting role with Minnesota after signing a two-year, $13 million deal in August.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Not playing Friday

Kuminga (rest) won't play in Friday's preseason game against the Bulls, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports.

Kuminga will join several other key contributors on the inactive list in Minnesota's preseason finale. He should be able to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Heat.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Fares well in return

Kuminga (soreness) recorded 16 points (5-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 128-106 preseason loss to Detroit.

After missing Minnesota's previous two exhibitions due to soreness, Kuminga showed little rust in his return, missing just one field-goal attempt while connecting twice from beyond the arc. His efficient performance and 22-minute workload were positive developments as he works toward being fully ready for the regular season.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Starting Wednesday

Kuminga (soreness) is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's preseason game against Detroit.

Kuminga missed the previous two games due to general soreness but will return to the starting lineup Wednesday. The forward should see a fair amount of playing time in the first half, though his workload may be limited given the exhibition setting.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Ruled out for Monday

Kuminga (general soreness) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Knicks, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports.

"[Kuminga] is dealing with a little bit of bumps and bruises that we're just being overly cautious with," said head coach Chris Finch when asked why Kuminga would miss Monday's exhibition. It sounds like there's a decent chance Kuminga will be able to get back out there for Wednesday's preseason meeting with the Pistons.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Won't play against Miami

Kuminga (rest) is not available against the Heat on Saturday.

Kuminga played in each of the Timberwolves' first two preseason games but will observe Saturday's game from the bench in street clothes. His next chance to play is against the Knicks on Monday.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Struggles in second start

Kuminga finished with two points (1-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal in 19 minutes during Wednesday's 123-112 preseason loss to the Pacers.

Kuminga got the starting nod for the second straight game, another indication that he is likely to hold onto that spot when the season proper begins. Although he attempted the second-most shots behind Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels, Kuminga's fantasy flaws were on full display, managing to connect on just one shot from nine attempts. Assuming he is given the green light to start on opening night, Kuminga is worth a look late in drafts, remembering that if and when his shot isn't falling, he has very little to fall back on in terms of peripheral production.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Scores eight points in preseason debut

Kuminga contributed eight points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and two rebounds across 14 minutes in Monday's 116-97 preseason win over the Bucks.

Kuminga started at power forward and scored Minnesota's first points of the game, finishing a drive off a feed from Ball. He didn't see much offensive volume after that but was efficient when called upon, making both of his attempts inside the arc and all four of his free throws while committing no turnovers. Kuminga's place in the starting five is particularly notable as Minnesota begins evaluating how its revamped frontcourt will fit together during the preseason, and it wouldn't be surprising if he opens the 2026-27 regular season in a starting role.

  • Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Heading to Minnesota

Kuminga agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract with the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

Kuminga spent most of his career in Golden State before briefly suiting up for Atlanta during the 2025-26 campaign. In 294 career regular-season appearances, the 2021 No. 7 overall pick has averaged 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 22.1 minutes. He isn't the most efficient shooter from deep, but he will add more depth to a team that also acquired LaMelo Ball during the offseason. Kuminga might initially come off the bench, though that could change along the way.
