Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga: Heading to Minnesota
Kuminga agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract with the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Kuminga spent most of his career in Golden State before briefly suiting up for Atlanta during the 2025-26 campaign. In 294 career regular-season appearances, the 2021 No. 7 overall pick has averaged 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 22.1 minutes. He isn't the most efficient shooter from deep, but he will add more depth to a team that also acquired LaMelo Ball during the offseason. Kuminga might initially come off the bench, though that could change along the way.

Jonathan Kuminga: To become free agent
The Hawks declined Kuminga's 2026-27 team option Monday, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
Kuminga was owed $24.3 million, so this move comes as no surprise. Rowland notes that the Hawks could still explore re-signing him in free agency, as they own his Bird Rights. In 22 games with Atlanta (including the playoffs), Kuminga averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers.

Hawks' Jonathan Kuminga: Indifferent end to season
Kuminga contributed 11 points (3-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one block in 23 minutes during Thursday's 140-89 loss to the Knicks in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Kuminga closed the chapter on another disappointing season, undoubtedly raising some questions heading into the 2026-27 campaign. Although the trade from Golden State to Atlanta allowed him to play meaningful basketball, his impact was minimal. In 22 games as a Hawk (including playoffs), Kuminga averaged 12.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers, leaving him well outside the top 250 in standard fantasy formats.
