  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Undergoes surgery for torn ACL

The Wizards announced Thursday that Watkins has undergone surgery for a torn ACL. Watkins, a two-way player for the Wizards, suffered the injury during the Summer League. Although Washington has yet to offer a timetable for a return, a typical recovery time for the procedure is approximately 9-to-12 months. That leaves Watkins in serious jeopardy of missing most, if not all, of the 2026-27 season, and it remains to be seen if the team will stay committed to keeping him around on a two-way roster spot while he's injured.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Doesn't play Wednesday

Watkins (knee) did not play in Wednesday's 108-94 Summer League loss to the Clippers. Watkins remained sidelined for a third straight game due to a knee injury. The remainder of Washington's Summer League schedule has yet to be finalized, though the club is expected to play its next game Saturday against an opponent yet to be announced. It remains to be seen whether Watkins will suit up again in Las Vegas or remain sidelined for the rest of the competition.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Inactive for Tuesday

Watkins (knee) was inactive for Tuesday's 99-87 Las Vegas Summer League loss to the Bulls. This was Watkins' second straight game on the sidelines, although he continues to be listed as day-to-day. His next chance to play will come Wednesday against the Clippers.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Won't play Sunday

Watkins (knee) won't play in Sunday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Kings, Joshua Valdez of ClutchPoints.com reports. Watkins will miss Sunday's exhibition, but he's considered day-to-day, so there's a chance he'll be able to return for Tuesday's meeting with the Bulls. Will Riley should see ample minutes Sunday with both Watkins and Tre Johnson (undisclosed) unavailable.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Signs with Washington

Watkins and the Wizards agreed to a two-way contract Wednesday. The Wizards previously declined Watkins' $2.5 million player option, but there was mutual interest in a reunion. During the 2025-26 regular season, Watkins averaged 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 20.6 minutes per contest.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Scores career-high 24 points

Watkins chipped in 24 points (7-13 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one block in 34 minutes during Sunday's 130-117 loss to Cleveland. Watkins ended his rookie season with a bang, posting a career-high 24 points. With most of the roster shut down by injuries, Watkins played a key role down the stretch. Over his last seven games, he stood out with 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.9 three-pointers in 28.1 minutes per contest.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Strong line in loss

Watkins closed Sunday's 121-115 loss to the Nets with 20 points (7-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 44 minutes. With the Wizards missing several key players, Watkins moved into the starting unit and put up a season-high 20 points. He had played 19 minutes in two straight contests prior, so unless the Wizards are shorthanded again, fantasy managers shouldn't chase this line too aggressively.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Provides 14 points off bench

Watkins provided 14 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 19 minutes before getting ejected from Saturday's 152-136 loss to Miami. Watkins reached double figures in the scoring column for the first time since March 21, and he did so Saturday with efficiency. The 24-year-old has been deployed as a reserve in six consecutive games, and he's averaging 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals in 19.5 minutes over this span.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Moving to second unit

Watkins isn't part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Jazz. Watkins will move back to the bench after making a spot start the last time out. Given the Wizards' lengthy injury report, expect Watkins to see plenty of run.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Plays well off bench

Watkins provided seven points (2-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal over 16 minutes during Thursday's 136-131 overtime loss to the Magic. Watkins returned from a four-game absence after battling a sprained ankle and foot. He's made a strong impact for the Wizards, but his fantasy appeal will be limited when the team is close to full strength.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Cleared to play Thursday

Watkins (ankle/foot) is off the injury report for Thursday's game against Orlando. Watkins is set to return from a four-game absence due to a sprained ankle and foot. The rookie wing is averaging 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds across 18.7 minutes per game this season.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Won't go Tuesday

Watkins (ankle/foot) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Heat. Watkins is set to miss a fourth straight game due to a sprained left ankle and foot. • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Ruled out for Sunday

Watkins (ankle/foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Pelicans. Watkins will miss a third consecutive contest due to a sprained left foot and ankle. His next opportunity to play will come Tuesday in Miami. With the rookie second-rounder sidelined, Will Riley, Justin Champagnie and Leaky Black are candidates for increased minutes.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Left out of rotation Thursday

Watkins (coach's decision) went unused off the bench in Thursday's 126-96 loss to Atlanta. Despite being upgraded from his two-way deal to a standard contract earlier Thursday, Watkins ended up exiting head coach Brian Keefe's 10-man rotation. Rather than Watkins, Keefe turned to two-way player Leaky Black (30 minutes) to fill out the second unit. With the 16-42 Wizards playing out the string on a non-contending season, expect the team's rotations to be highly volatile from game to game, making players like Watkins difficult to rely upon in both DFS and as streaming options in season-long fantasy leagues.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Heading to bench

Watkins is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against Indiana. It'll instead be Tristan Vukcevic manning the middle for the Wizards on Thursday. Watkins has averaged 9.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 29.2 minutes per tilt in his last seven games (two starts).

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Starting Wednesday

Watkins will start Wednesday's game against the Cavaliers. With the Wizards shorthanded in the frontcourt, Watkins will step back into the starting five. As a starter this season (three games), the rookie second-rounder has averaged 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26.7 minutes per contest.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Will not start vs. Milwaukee

Watkins won't start against the Bucks on Wednesday. With Khris Middleton (knee) back in action, Watkins will slide to the second unit. In his last five appearances off the bench, the rookie second-rounder has averaged 4.6 points and 3.8 rebounds across 15.2 minutes per tilt.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Good to go Sunday

Watkins (illness) is available for Sunday's game against the Spurs. Watkins has 10 appearances to his name this season for an average of 12.0 minutes per contest. He'll be available to provide emergency depth Sunday.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Chance to play Sunday

Watkins (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Spurs. An illness prevented Watkins from playing in Saturday's win over the Grizzlies, but the rookie second-rounder has a chance to return for the back end of the Wizards' back-to-back set Sunday. Tre Johnson, Justin Champagnie and Bub Carrington would be in line for more playing time off the bench if Watkins is not cleared to play.

  • Wizards' Jamir Watkins: Won't play Saturday

Watkins (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game in Memphis. Watkins' minutes will likely be divvied up amongst Justin Champagnie, Tre Johnson and Bub Carrington. Watkins' next chance to play will come Sunday versus San Antonio.
