Thybulle underwent surgery Friday to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb and will be re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks.
Thybulle sustained the thumb injury after logging just five minutes in Wednesday's win over the Jazz and will now miss an extended period. With the 28-year-old forward sidelined, Kris Murray and Rayan Rupert are candidates for increased playing time. Over four regular-season appearances, Thybulle has averaged 5.0 points and 2.5 steals in 12.3 minutes per contest.

Thybulle will miss the Trail Blazers' preseason opener Wednesday with a right knee injury. The 6-foot-5 wing missed all but 15 regular-season games last season due to ankle and knee injuries. Thybulle opted into his $11.5 million player option for the 2025-26 season Tuesday, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
This was always the most likely scenario for Thybulle as he looks to rebuild his market value -- knee and ankle injuries limited him to 15 regular-season games in 2024-25. He fared well in those games, however, posting averages of 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.6 blocks and 2.2 steals in 20.8 minutes per contest while shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Trail Blazers' Matisse Thybulle: Consistent two-way impact in April
Thybulle closed Sunday's 109-81 win over the Lakers with 15 points (5-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-7 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals in 29 minutes.
The veteran swingman missed the bulk of the season due to offseason knee surgery and an ankle sprain while ramping up in October, but he played a meaningful role for the Trail Blazers during April. Over seven games this month, Thybulle averaged 9.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.6 three-pointers in 27.3 minutes. It remains to be seen if Thybulle will exercise his player option for 2025-26, but he's proven to be an excellent source of swipes and triples in fantasy leagues when he's able to play substantial minutes.
