Fantasy News

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Limited at practice

Hart (back, illness) was limited to individual work at Sunday's practice, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Hart has been dealing with some back spasms since the beginning of preseason and has also been under the weather for a couple days. He's trending in the right direction, however. Knicks coach Mike Brown didn't discuss player availability for Monday's exhibition against the Wizards, but he didn't rule out the possibility some players will be held out for maintenance purposes.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Sitting out with illness

Hart (illness) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Timberwolves, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Hart has been ruled out due to an illness, but it's unclear if he's still nursing back spasms as well. His next chance to see preseason action comes in Monday's exhibition clash with the Hornets. In the interim, Guerschon Yabusele and Pacome Dadiet will both have an opportunity to play an expanded role Thursday.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Misses another practice

Hart (back, illness) did not practice Wednesday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Hart, who is already dealing with back spasms, stayed home Wednesday due to an illness. Coach Mike Brown said he was unsure if Hart would suit up for Thursday's exhibition against Minnesota, but it seems likely that the Knicks will exercise caution here. The forward is considered day-to-day.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Sits out practice Tuesday

Hart (back) did not practice Tuesday, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. According to coach Mike Brown, Hart is considered day-to-day. Hart picked up his injury in New York's preseason opener Thursday, but the issue is considered minor. That being said, it remains to be seen if the forward will be held out of Thursday's preseason game against Minnesota.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Bench role Saturday

Hart (back) has been cleared to play in Saturday's game against the 76ers, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports. Despite dealing with a back injury, which he suffered in the team's preseason opener Thursday, the veteran forward will suit up and come off the bench. Along with going down with the back issue in the first game against Philadelphia, the Villanova product was ejected from the game for throwing the ball away. He'll look for a bounce-back performance Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Will be re-evaluated Friday

Hart (back) will be re-evaluated Friday, Steve Popper of Newsday reports. Hart is dealing with lower back soreness in the aftermath of Thursday's preseason opener against the 76ers. Fantasy managers can consider him day-to-day until he's re-evaluated. Jordan Clarkson and Malcolm Brogdon are candidates for more playing time if Hart misses Saturday's preseason game against Philadelphia.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Forgettable outing vs. Philadelphia

Hart finished with two points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist across seven minutes during Thursday's 99-84 preseason win over the 76ers. Hart's night came to an end much earlier than anticipated, as he appeared to hurt his back and was ejected for throwing the ball away. He made an impact on the glass in seven minutes on the floor, but that's certainly not what his performance will be remembered for.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Goes to locker room, ejected

Hart appeared to tweak his back during Thursday's preseason game against the 76ers and went to the locker room, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports. He was ejected following the play for throwing the basketball away, finishing with two points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three boards and one assist in seven minutes. Hart was on the floor in pain for quite some time before he was able to get up and hobble to the locker room. He picked up a technical foul and was ejected, so it's unclear if this injury would've prevented him from returning.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Not starting preseason opener

Hart won't start Thursday's preseason opener against the 76ers, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports. After starting all 77 of his regular-season appearances last season under head coach Tom Thibodeau, Hart will come off the bench during Mike Brown's first game in charge. Hart has been dealing with a finger injury, but he's expected to play through it.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Will play through finger issue

Hart said Tuesday that he will play through his finger injury this season and address it next offseason, ESPN's Tim Bontemps reports. Hart underwent finger surgery in July, but he recently re-aggravated it. He said he'll probably wear a splint on it this season before trying to get it taken care of again next summer. Hart added that if he doesn't feel like he's able to be himself because of the issue, then he'll consider dealing with it sooner. With training camp about to start up, this wasn't the update prospective fantasy managers were hoping for, but it's not a surprise to hear that Hart wants to power through it. As far as the starting lineup goes, new head coach Mike Brown did not reveal if Hart or Mitchell Robinson would start on Opening Night.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Undergoes finger surgery

Hart (finger) underwent surgery and is expected to resume basketball activities later in the summer, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports. Hart underwent a procedure on his right ring finger following an injury sustained during the 2025 postseason. The versatile wing started 77 regular-season games last year, averaging 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 37.6 minutes, though he moved to a bench role for the final four games of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers. The surgery isn't expected to impact Hart's availability for the start of the 2025-26 season, but his role in the rotation could change with new head coach Mike Brown at the helm, replacing Tom Thibodeau.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Subdued end to season

Hart racked up four points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, one assist and three steals across 22 minutes during Saturday's 125-108 loss to the Pacers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Hart closed his 2024-25 campaign with a modest effort, scoring single digits for the fourth time in the past six games. After starting every game of the season, Hart moved to the bench for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals as Tom Thibodeau opted to run with a bigger lineup. While the move hadn't impacted Hart too much in terms of playing time, he was limited to just 22 minutes Saturday. Despite a heartbreaking end to the season, Hart proved himself to be a key piece for the Knicks, averaging 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 three-pointers across 77 regular-season games.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Double-doubles off bench

Hart supplied 12 points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 11 rebounds and one assist over 36 minutes before fouling out of Tuesday's 130-121 loss to Indiana in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Hart came off the bench for the second consecutive game, with head coach Tom Thibodeau opting to go with both Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson in the starting lineup. Although Hart was able to record his fifth double-double of the playoffs, his supporting numbers left a lot to be desired. Game 5 will be in New York on Thursday, with the Knicks needing a victory to extend the series.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Shifts to bench Sunday

Hart logged eight points (1-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Sunday's 106-100 win over the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Hart moved to the bench as Tom Thibodeau went hunting for answers, a move that on the surface appeared to pay dividends. Despite the demotion, Hart still delivered a balanced performance, sniffing what would have been his first double-double of the series. This was the first time Hart has come off the bench this season, a sign that Thibodeau is willing to try anything to ensure the Knicks advance to the NBA Finals. Given the success of the move, it wouldn't be surprising to see Hart coming off the bench again Tuesday in Game 4.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Could head to bench in Game 3

Hart might not be part of the starting lineup in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers on Sunday, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Hart was limited to 28 minutes in the Game 2 loss on Friday, finishing with six points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. Perhaps most importantly, he's looked gassed throughout the series and has struggled to adjust to the Pacers' up-tempo style. If he ends up being moved to a bench role, Mitchell Robinson is expected to enter the starting five as his replacement.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Sub-par effort in Game 2 loss

Hart finished with six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 28 minutes during Friday's 114-109 loss to Indiana in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Hart played poorly in Friday's loss, which was arguably his worst game of the playoffs. Although his scoring cannot always be relied upon, his peripheral numbers typically make up for any offensive slip-ups. However, that was not the case, as he only logged 28 minutes. Hart will look to turn things around in Game 3, slated for Sunday in Indiana.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Triple-doubles in win Friday

Hart totaled 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 33 minutes during Friday's 119-81 victory over the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Hart was the only Knicks starter who didn't reach the 20-point mark, but that didn't matter much for the outcome as New York cruised to a comfortable victory. Fantasy managers won't be mad at Hart's stat line either. According to NBA.com, he became the third player in franchise history to record a triple-double in the playoffs since the 1971-72 season, joining Walt Frazier and Dan McGuire on that list. Hart's versatility makes him an elite fantasy contributor even if he plays a secondary role in the offensive scheme.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Solid output in loss Wednesday

Hart recorded 24 points (7-15 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds and two assists over 36 minutes during Wednesday's 127-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Hart not only led the Knicks in scoring in this Game 5 loss, but he also delivered his best scoring output of the entire postseason run. This was a huge bounce-back performance for the veteran, who had been struggling with his shot in his previous two outings -- he scored a combined 16 points while shooting 5-for-16 from the floor in Games 3 and 4. Hart is averaging 15.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game through his five outings in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Struggles with shot

Hart registered six points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 121-113 win over the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. This wasn't Hart's night offensively, but he continues to do all the little things on the court that don't always translate to the stat sheet. Across four games of this series, Hart averages 13.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 blocks, 0.8 steals and 1.3 three-pointers.

  • Knicks' Josh Hart: Tallies two swats in loss

Hart posted 10 points (3-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 34 minutes during Saturday's 115-93 loss to Boston in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Hart led the Knicks in blocks during the blowout loss, chipping in multiple swats for the second straight outing. However, he was inefficient on the offensive end. The 30-year-old forward has shot 51.5 percent from the field over three second-round appearances, though he has shot only 28.6 percent from three-point range. Hart has averaged 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks across 40.7 minutes per contest in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
