Nationals' Devin Fitz-Gerald: Making leap to Double-A
Fitz-Gerald was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg on Sunday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Fitz-Gerald has compiled a .267 batting average with 12 home runs, 37 RBI, 42 runs scored and 11 stolen bases over 202 at-bats in 51 contests with High-A Wilmington so far this season. He will now take the next step in his professional career, joining Ethan Petry at the Double-A level after Petry was also promoted Sunday.

Nationals' Devin Fitz-Gerald: Raking to begin 2026
Fitz-Gerald is slashing .333/.463/.519 with two homers, 10 steals in 11 attempts and a 10:9 BB:K through 13 games for High-A Wilmington to begin the season.
Acquired from the Rangers this offseason as part of the package for MacKenzie Gore, Fitz-Gerald has had a very impressive start to his time in the Nationals' organization. The 20-year-old has seen action at second base, shortstop and third base, and it's not clear yet what his eventual defensive home might be in the majors as he races other infield prospects like Eli Willits, Gavin Fien and Ronny Cruz up the ladder.

Nationals' Devin Fitz-Gerald: Dealt to Nats
The Rangers traded Fitz-Gerald (shoulder), Gavin Fien, Alejandro Rosario (elbow), Abimelec Ortiz and Yeremy Cabrera to the Nationals on Thursday in exchange for MacKenzie Gore, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Fitz-Gerald played his first professional season in 2025 and slashed .302/.428/.482 over 173 plate appearances between rookie ball and Single-A before a shoulder injury cut his season short in early July. It's unknown where the 20-year-old infielder stands in his recovery process, but he will likely report to Single-A Fredericksburg once he's cleared to play.
