Tigers' John Peck: Swipes another base in win
Peck went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Twins. He also stole a base.
Peck did a little bit of everything in the victory, including stealing his second base in as many games after getting a day off Tuesday. The 24-year-old is getting his first taste of MLB action and has become Detroit's primary option at shortstop, though veteran Javier Baez can still play there along with fellow rookie Kevin McGonigle when he's not covering third. If Peck performs well down the stretch, he'll put himself in position to be the Tigers' Opening Day shortstop in 2027.

Tigers' John Peck: Collects first MLB hit, RBI in win
Peck went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 11-6, extra-innings win over the Twins.
Peck delivered a double in the second inning, which was his first major-league hit and plated his first two runs. The 24-year-old just got called up from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, and it appears that he's going to get a long look at shortstop, with fellow rookies Kevin McGonigle and Hao-Yu Lee settling in at third base and second base, respectively. Peck could help secure himself a regular role with the Tigers in 2027 if he finishes this year with a flourish.

Tigers' John Peck: Sitting out first game
Peck is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians.
Peck started at shortstop each of the last two days and will likely man the position in Friday's nightcap, but he'll begin the matinee on the bench. Javier Baez will cover shortstop and bat ninth in the first game of the twin bill.

Tigers' John Peck: Added to big-league roster

Peck will get his first big-league promotion after slashing .288/.339/.502 with 11 home runs and 22 steals in the minors this season, with most of his time spent at Double-A Erie. Manager A.J. Hinch said Monday that Peck will start at shortstop Tuesday and Wednesday in Minnesota, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. He could could see ample playing time down the stretch as the Tigers try to find out where he might fit on the 2027 roster.

Tigers' John Peck: Set for call-up Monday
The Tigers are expected to call up Peck from Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.
Peck looks set for his first taste of the big leagues after slashing .288/.339/.502 with 11 home runs and 22 steals in 70 games across four minor-league levels, with the bulk of his playing time coming at Double-A Erie. With Detroit quickly falling out of contention in the American League playoff picture, Peck could end up getting steady playing time over the final four weeks of the season. He's primarily played at shortstop in the minors but has also gotten exposure to second base and third base.

Tigers' John Peck: Impressing in camp
Peck has been impressing Detroit's coaching staff so far in spring training, particularly from a defensive perspective, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Peck was a seventh-round draft pick back in 2023 and has climbed Detroit's organizational ladder quickly. Last season, he split his time between High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie, and the 23-year-old finished with a .301/.359/.433 slash line, 11 home runs and 19 stolen bases in 118 games across the two levels. The young infielder has looked comfortable in camp so far, with manager A.J. Hinch praising his "innate timing" and "sure hands" defensively. Peck's ability in the field figures to help his continued rise through the system, and he could start to get on the fantasy radar in short order if his bat keeps pace at higher levels.
