Yang had already been sent back to the minors last week after a brief stint with the Reds and has now been removed from the 40-man roster. He will remain in the organization as catching depth at Louisville.

Yang served as Tyler Stephenson's backup while Luke Maile (back) and Austin Wynns (shoulder) were sidelined, but Maile is back now to reclaim that gig. The 26-year-old Yang struck out in his lone plate appearance.

The Reds selected Yang's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
He'll join the Reds' 26-man active roster as a replacement for backup catcher Austin Wynns, who was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a right teres major tear in Sunday's loss to the Rays. Yang, 26, is a glove-first catcher who slashed .164/.330/.205 over 28 games between Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga this season. While he's up with the Reds, Yang is expected to see limited action behind No. 1 backstop Tyler Stephenson.
