  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Strikes out three in third win

Gomez (3-1) notched the win Monday against Atlanta, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk in five-plus innings. He struck out three.

Gomez was well on his way to his second straight start of at least five innings while yielding only one run, but he was unable to record an out before conceding two more earned runs in the sixth inning. With Chicago optioning Sean Burke to the minor leagues Monday, Gomez should be able to maintain a spot in the rotation going forward. That said, Gomez has a weak 5.53 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 23:15 K:BB across 27.2 frames in 2025, so he likely won't categorize as an appealing streaming option versus the division-rival Twins this weekend.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Receiving another start

Gomez is scheduled to start Monday's game in Atlanta.

The 25-year-old right-hander will draw a second straight turn through the White Sox rotation after he delivered an excellent performance in his first MLB start this past Tuesday against the Tigers. Gomez collected the win in an 89-pitch outing, striking out seven batters and inducing 16 swinging strikes while permitting one run and allowing four runners to reach base over five innings. Gomez's limited track record in the big leagues makes him a risky fantasy option ahead of what shapes up as a two-start week, but he had found some success at the Triple-A level prior to his call-up last week. Gomez had posted a 2.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB in 46.2 innings with the White Sox's top affiliate in Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Fans seven in first MLB start

Gomez (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over five innings. He struck out seven.

Making his first major-league start, the 25-year-old right-hander set the tone early with three scoreless frames, keeping Detroit's bats quiet before Wenceel Perez broke through with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. The outing added to his growing body of work in the majors; he's now made 13 appearances this season, posting a 5.56 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Given his poise in a spot-start situation, Gomez could be in line for another turn in the rotation as the White Sox evaluate his role down the stretch.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Promoted for first MLB start

The White Sox selected Gomez's contract from Triple-A Charlotte, and he's scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

The right-hander spent time with the White Sox, Dodgers and Yankees early in the season and had a 6.62 ERA and 13:13 K:BB across 17.2 relief innings, and he's worked as a starter at Charlotte for the past few months. Gomez has excelled in that role at Triple-A and has a 2.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings, so Chicago will now give him his first start in the majors.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Heads to Triple-A

The White Sox outrighted Gomez to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Gomez was designated for assignment earlier in the week. He's appeared in 12 games for three different teams already this season. Gomez posted an 8.10 ERA and 2:2 K:BB across 3.1 innings out of the Chicago bullpen.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Booted from 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday.

The transaction frees spots on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for the addition of Adrian Houser. Gomez was claimed off waivers earlier this month and has collected a 6.62 ERA over 10 appearances between the Yankees, Dodgers and White Sox.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Claimed by Pale Hose

The White Sox claimed Gomez off waivers from the Dodgers on Saturday.

The Dodgers designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday, one day after he gave up three earned runs while recording just one out against Miami. He has a bloated 6.28 ERA and 1.81 WHIP across 14.1 frames this season, but the White Sox recognized enough potential in the 25-year-old righty to put in a waiver claim for him. He'll report to the big club and will likely fill a long-relief role.

  • Dodgers' Yoendrys Gomez: Removed from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

  • Dodgers' Yoendrys Gomez: Secures three-inning save

Gomez allowed four hits over three scoreless innings and earned a save against the Pirates on Sunday. He struck out four batters.

Gomez made his Dodgers debut after the Yankees designated him for assignment. It was the first time he struck out more than two batters in an appearance this season, and he brought his K:BB up to 9:9 through 13 frames. Gomez shouldn't see many save opportunities with the Dodgers moving forward but could be used in more bulk-relief spots.

  • Dodgers' Yoendrys Gomez: Claimed off waivers

The Dodgers claimed Gomez off waivers from the Yankees on Friday.

New York designated the right-hander for assignment earlier in the week, but he'll remain on a 40-man roster after being claimed by Los Angeles. Gomez has a 2.70 ERA across 10 innings this season but hasn't exactly been reliable with a 5:9 K:BB.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Designated for assignment

The Yankees designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday.

Gomez has lost his place on the 40-man roster after posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 5:9 K:BB across 10 innings this year. The 25-year-old will likely head to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Struggling with control

Gomez tossed two-thirds of an inning against San Francisco on Friday, allowing one run on no hits and four walks. He struck out two.

Gomez entered in the sixth inning with New York trailing by seven and promptly walked the first three batters he faced. The righty rebounded to strike out Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos with the bases loaded, but he then issued another free pass to force in a run. Gomez didn't get a chance to throw another pitch, as Mother Nature intervened, and the contest was called due to inclement weather. Overall, Gomez threw just 14 of 33 pitches for strikes in the outing, continuing a troubling early season trend -- through seven innings this season, he's walked eight batters. Of additional concern is that Gomez's velocity was down Friday, as he averaged just 90.1 mph on his fastball. However, he said through an interpreter after the contest that he "felt good" and suggested that the rough weather may have affected his performance, mentioning "some factors" that he had to deal with, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. The Associated Press also notes that Gomez had trouble gripping the ball due to the rain.

Gomez was able to get through his two-inning appearance Monday without giving up a run, bringing his ERA down to 3.97 through 11.1 frames in the majors. He'll now return to Triple-A following the acquisition of Mark Leiter from the Cubs, though Gomez could still return to New York later in the year should the Yankees need a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Back in bullpen

The Yankees recalled Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Returns to Triple-A

Gomez was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Padres.

Gomez will return to Triple-A after tossing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts in the team's 8-0 victory over San Diego on Friday. The right-hander was filling in for Nick Burdi (hip) on the major-league roster, but with Ian Hamilton (illness) set to be activated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of the team's series in Anaheim on Tuesday, Gomez was the odd man out with New York.

With Nick Burdi (hip) headed to the injured list, Gomez will fill the opening in New York's bullpen. The 24-year-old righty pitched two scoreless innings during his MLB debut last season and has posted a 3.62 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 27.1 frames this year at Triple-A.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Cut from big-league camp

The Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Gomez made his MLB debut late last season with a scoreless two-inning appearance but was never a likely bet to crack the Yankees' Opening Day roster. He made one Grapefruit League appearance with New York during spring training and gave up two runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. Gomez pitched well as a starter at Double-A Somerset last season with a 3.58 ERA across 65.1 innings.
