Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Might get called up in September
Yesavage could be promoted to the majors to make his MLB debut in September, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
While the Blue Jays may be more likely to use their extra September roster spot for the pitching staff on a relief arm who's already seen time in the majors this season, such as Lazaro Estrada and Paxton Schultz, letting Yesavage get his feet wet at the top level could be tempting for the organization, especially if the Jays think he'll be ready to compete for a rotation spot next spring. The 22-year-old right-hander has risen from Single-A to Double-A this season and soared up prospect lists in his first pro campaign after being the 20th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, posting a combined 3.01 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 134:30 K:BB in just 80.2 innings across three levels.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Moving up to Triple-A
The Blue Jays promoted Yesavage from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Yesavage will be moving up to his fourth affiliate of the season after beginning the campaign at Single-A Dunedin. In three stops so far, the 2024 first-round pick has collected a 3.01 ERA and 134:30 K:BB across 80.2 innings. Yesavage could push for a big-league promotion in September, perhaps as a reliever or if a need arises in the Blue Jays rotation.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Perfect in return from layoff
Yesavage threw four perfect innings for Double-A New Hampshire on Saturday. He struck out five.
The 22-year-old right-hander hadn't pitched since July 6, a planned layoff as the Blue Jays focus on limited Yesavage's workload in his first professional season, but he returned to the mound in impressive fashion and fired 33 of 48 pitches for strikes. Over 71.2 innings across three levels this season, Yesavage sports a 3.01 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 116:30 K:BB.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Dominant outing at Double-A
Yesavage allowed one hit and one walk over five scoreless innings for Double-A New Hampshire on Wednesday. He struck out eight.
After giving up five runs in 6.2 innings during his first two Double-A outings, Yesavage found his rhythm again, firing 49 of 75 pitches for strikes and flashing the form that has seen him race through the Blue Jays' system in 2025. Over 62.1 innings across three levels, the 21-year-old righty sports a 2.45 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 104:27 K:BB, and if he strings together more performances like this one, another bump up to Triple-A could be coming later this summer.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Could make MLB debut in 2025
Yesavage could make his Blue Jays debut later this season if he continues to face little challenge from minor-league hitters, Mitch Bannon of the Athletic reports. "If he continues to dominate performance-wise, in tandem with consistent routines and progress with his priority goals, then it's not out of the question," player development director Joe Sclafani said recently. "It's our group's job to think long term and put him in the best position to succeed, but Trey will ultimately be the driver of those decisions."
The 20th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft won't be the first player from his class to reach the majors -- that honor belongs to Houston's Cam Smith -- but Yesavage has torn through the Jays system to begin the season, making his professional debut at Single-A Dunedin on April 8 and then making his Double-A debut just over two months later. The 21-year-old right-hander still has a lot to prove before he'll be a viable option for the 26-man roster, but his four-pitch arsenal may already be big-league ready if his control and command hold up at higher levels, and Yesavage's 43.4 percent strikeout rate through 54.2 innings on the season leads all qualified minor-league hurlers. One big obstacle to a 2025 big-league debut would be his workload -- the organization came into the season planning to cap him at about 120-to-130 innings. Even if he doesn't get called up for the stretch run, Yesavage appears to be on track to compete for a rotation spot in Toronto as soon as spring training 2026.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Overcomes jitters in Double-A debut
Yesavage gave up one run on one hit and four walks over four innings in his debut for Double-A New Hampshire on Thursday. He struck out four.
The 21-year-old righty walked the first three batters he faced as he showed a clear case of nerves, but Yesavage regained his focus and escaped the jam allowing only a sacrifice fly before shutting down Reading over the next three frames. He got lifted after 68 pitches (41 strikes), and the display of resilience should only boost Yesavage's prospect standing. In his first professional season after being the 20th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, the East Carolina product has a combined 2.14 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 92:23 K:BB in just 54.2 innings across three levels.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Moves up to Double-A
The Blue Jays have promoted Yesavage from High-A Vancouver to Double-A New Hampshire, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Yesavage will make his Double-A debut later this week after collecting a dominant 2.13 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 88:19 K:BB over 50.2 innings covering 11 starts between Single-A Dunedin and Vancouver. The 21-year-old was the 20th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Claims minor-league strikeout lead
Yesavage struck out nine while giving up up one run on two hits and a walk over five innings Friday for High-A Vancouver.
The 21-year-old right-hander has remained dominant following a promotion from Single-A Dunedin, and over four starts and 17.1 innings for Vancouver, Yesavage has delivered a 1.56 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 33:11 K:BB. His 88 strikeouts combined between the two affiliates leads the entire minor leagues, and the first-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft may not be long for the Northwest League if he continues to overmatch hitters with his mid-90s fastball, splitter and slider.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Double-digit Ks in Vancouver debut
Yesavage struck out 10 and gave up two runs on two hits and three walks over four innings Tuesday for High-A Vancouver.
In his High-A debut. Yesavage racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time in his last six starts, and on the season he sports a 65:11 K:BB in 37.1 innings between Vancouver and Single-A Dunedin. The 21-year-old right-hander threw 44 of 73 pitches for strikes Tuesday, and his three free passes may have been an anomaly -- he hadn't issued a walk in any of his final three starts for Dunedin. If Yesavage keeps dominating Northwest League hitters, another promotion to Double-A could be coming for the 2024 first-round pick before the end of the year.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Finally bumped to High-A
Yesavage is being promoted to High-A Vancouver, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
The Blue Jays' first-round pick in the 2024 First-year Player Draft was predictably too much for hitters in Florida State League, posting a 2.43 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 55:8 K:BB through 33.1 innings for Single-A Dunedin to begin his first pro season. Yesavage will head north and west alongside 2024 second-round pick Khal Stephen (2.06 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 48:7 K:BB in 39.1 innings for Dunedin) and 2022 19th-round pick Gage Stanifer (0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB in 26 innings) as the organization gives some of its top pitching prospects a new challenge.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Racking up Ks at Single-A
Yesavage struck out 10 and gave up two runs on one hit and two walks over 4.2 innings for Single-A Dunedin on Friday.
It's the second straight start with double-digit strikeouts for the 2024 first-round pick, who is predictably dominating Florida State League hitters. Yesavage sports a 3.12 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB through 17.1 innings, and once the weather gets better in the Pacific Northwest, the 21-year-old right-hander should receive a promotion to High-A Vancouver, where he'll face a better test of his current skills.

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Affiliate not yet determined
The Blue Jays haven't yet decided where Yesavage will begin his pro career, Sam Dykstra of MLB.com reports.
The 20th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft didn't debut last year after completing his collegiate career at East Carolina, but his stuff is already good enough to potentially handle High-A or even Double-A. Early-season weather concerns in the Northwest and Eastern Leagues may cause the Jays to play it safe with the 21-year-old right-hander and assign him to Single-A Dunedin in the Florida State League instead, to ensure he gets into a rhythm before facing more advanced hitters. Yesavage touched 97 mph with good movement on his fastball during his Spring Breakout game performance March 15 while generating whiffs on all four of the cutters he threw, and his splitter flashed plus as well.
