Royals' Eric Cerantola: Returns to Omaha
The Royals optioned Cerantola to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Cerantola was called up Friday and will return to Omaha after allowing one run over one inning during his lone appearance. The 26-year-old has posted a 1.37 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 19.2 frames at Triple-A this year while serving as the Storm Chasers' primary closer.

Royals' Eric Cerantola: Recalled to Kansas City
The Royals recalled Cerantola from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
Cerantola will rejoin the Royals in Texas after recording two appearances with Kansas City on May 6 and 7. With Triple-A Omaha this year, the 26-year-old has posted a 1.37 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB in 18 appearances. Nick Mears (shoulder) will be placed on the 15-day IL to make room for Cerantola on the active roster.

Royals' Eric Cerantola: Returning to Triple-A
The Royals optioned Cerantola to Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
The right-hander was called up from Omaha on Wednesday and pitched on both days he spent in the big leagues, giving up three runs on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts over three innings. Steven Cruz will fill Cerantola's spot in Kansas City's bullpen.

Royals' Eric Cerantola: Logs first major-league strikeouts
Cerantola allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning during the Royals' 3-1 loss to the Guardians on Wednesday.
Cerantola was recalled by the Royals from Triple-A Omaha before Wednesday's game, and the 26-year-old right-hander from Montreal made his major-league debut on the same day. He allowed the first two batters he faced to reach, but after Austin Hedges was caught stealing, Cerantola settled in to strike out the last two batters of ninth. He has a 1.42 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB across 12.2 innings in Triple-A this season and should fill a low-leverage role while up in the majors.

Cerantola was roughed up for four runs with a 0:3 K:BB over 2.1 innings in his three Cactus League outings. The 25-year-old was added to the Royals' 40-man roster last offseason but has yet to make his major-league debut. Cerantola spent all of the 2025 campaign at Omaha, holding a 4.04 ERA and 63:24 K:BB across 49 frames.

Cerantola joined the Royals' 40-man roster over the winter and has tossed two scoreless frames during Cactus League play, but he never really had a shot to break camp with the big club. The righty reliever will likely debut at some point in 2025 and could eventually be a late-inning option for Kansas City if he can throw enough strikes.

Royals' Eric Cerantola: Added to 40-man roster
The Royals selected Cerantola from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Cerantola started 2024 in Double-A Northwest Arkansas, where he held a 2.93 ERA across 24 games (seven starts). He worked exclusively as a reliever at Omaha, posting a 3.77 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 14.1 innings over 13 appearances. The 24-year old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft in December.
