  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Outrighted to Norfolk

Vavra cleared waivers Tuesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. After going 0-for-1 during his two-day stint in the majors and being designated for assignment, Vavra will officially remain in the Orioles organization. The 28-year-old has slashed .247/.354/.341 across 203 plate appearances at Triple-A in 2025 and is likely to remain in the minor leagues for the rest of the season.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: DFA'd by Baltimore

The Orioles designated Vavra for assignment Sunday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. The 28-year-old was added to the big-league roster Friday and went 0-for-1 during a 4-3 win over the Cubs on Saturday, which was his first appearance in the majors since 2023. Vavra could head back to Triple-A Norfolk if he passes through waivers.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Back in majors

The Orioles selected Vavra's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. The 28-year-old remained in the organization after being designated for assignment in late May, and he'll receive another look in the majors after Baltimore traded away Ryan O'Hearn, Ramon Laureano and Cedric Mullins. Vavra last played in the majors in 2023 and had a .560 OPS in 56 plate appearances. His performance at Norfolk this season has also been underwhelming with a .695 OPS.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Joins taxi squad

Vavra has been added to the Orioles' taxi squad, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. The Orioles expect Jordan Westburg (finger) to avoid the 10-day injured list, but if he doesn't recover as quickly as hoped and ultimately goes on the IL, Vavra will take his roster spot. The utility player is a career .254/.331/.304 hitter over parts of two big-league seasons.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Sticks in organization

Vavra cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The 28-year-old was designated for assignment by Baltimore over the weekend after being promoted for one game, and he will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Vavra has a .317/.388/.450 slash line with one homer and three steals in 22 games with Norfolk this year.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Booted off 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Vavra for assignment Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Vavra's stay with the Orioles lasted just one day, with the utility player going unused in both ends of Saturday's doubleheader. Baltimore signed Cooper Hummel on Sunday and will have him replace Vavra on the 40-man and 26-man rosters.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Selected from Triple-A

The Orioles selected Vavra's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday. With Ramon Laureano (ankle) headed for the injured list, the Orioles will bring up Vavra to help replenish their bench depth. The 28-year-old utility man has had a fair amount of success in the minors this season, slashing .317/.388/.450 with seven RBI and 11 runs scored through 70 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Moves to minor-league camp

The Orioles reassigned Vavra to minor-league camp Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Vavra appeared in 67 games at the big-league level with Baltimore between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but the 27-year-old infielder looks far away from re-emerging as a contributor in the majors. He struggled to stay healthy in 2024 and was unproductive at the dish during his time in the minors, slashing .236/.333/.345 over 266 plate appearances with four affiliates between the Mariners and Orioles organizations. Vavra is likely to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Back with Baltimore as NRI

The Orioles re-signed Vavra to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Vavra finished last season in the Orioles organization after beginning the year in the minors with the Mariners. The 27-year-old has hit .254/.331/.304 in 159 plate appearances over parts of two seasons at the big-league level. He'll give Baltimore some utility depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Mariners' Terrin Vavra: DFA'd by Seattle

The Mariners designated Vavra for assignment Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Just eight days after claiming Vavra off waivers from Baltimore, the Mariners will now strip him of his spot on the 40-man roster and give it to Luis Urias, who was selected to the active roster Saturday. Vavra has slashed .239/.342/.356 across 191 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, and his defensive versatility could make him an attractive piece for other clubs browsing the waiver wire.

  • Mariners' Terrin Vavra: Claimed by Seattle

The Mariners claimed Vavra off waivers from the Orioles on Friday and optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma. The 27-year-old has a career .254/.331/.304 slash line over parts of two seasons in the majors. Vavra is capable of playing all over the field, giving the Mariners some utility depth.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Orioles designated Vavra for assignment Wednesday. Vavra was added back to the Orioles' 40-man roster in late July, but he was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk a day later once Baltimore's trade-deadline acquisitions joined up with the club. The 27-year-old will now move back off the 40-man roster as the Orioles clear room for infielder Emmanuel Rivera, who was claimed off waivers from the Marlins. Vavra will now be subject to the waiver process, but if he clears, he would have the ability to elect free agency since he was previously outrighted off the 40-man roster last November. He's produced a .243/.350/.368 slash line with three home runs and two stolen bases over 178 plate appearances at Norfolk this season.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Lands on IL with groin strain

Triple-A Norfolk placed Vavra on the 7-day injured list Friday due to a left groin strain, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. It will be the second time Vavra has been placed on the minor-league injured list this season. Since returning from a right shoulder strain May 12, Vavra has slashed .271/.377/.424 with two home runs and 12 RBI over 59 at-bats.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Rehabbing in Florida

Vavra (shoulder) began a rehab assignment Saturday with the Orioles' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, going 0-for-3 with an RBI while playing seven innings at first base. Vavra has been on Triple-A Norfolk's 7-day injured list all season but should be on the cusp of making his 2024 debut for the Orioles' top affiliate. The 26-year-old is working his way back from a strained right shoulder, which sidelined him for most of the second half of the 2023 season.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Goes on 60-day IL

The Orioles recalled Vavra from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a strained right shoulder. Vavra has resided on Norfolk's IL since mid-June due to the shoulder injury, but he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Delmarva on Aug. 31. However, he appeared in just two games for the affiliate before being pulled off the rehab assignment after experiencing a setback with the shoulder. The Orioles haven't revealed whether or not Vavra's injury is season-ending, but he's not expected to see any action with the big club again in 2023 even if his setback proves to be a minor one. The Orioles moved him to the 60-day IL in the big leagues for the purpose of opening up a spot on the 40-man roster for first baseman/outfielder Heston Kjerstad, whose contract was selected from Triple-A.

Vavra is starting in right field and batting eighth for the Orioles in Tuesday's game versus the Yankees, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Notches first steal

Vavra went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Angels. Vavra is getting a bit of run in the corner outfield, and he's gone 2-for-8 with one RBI, a walk and two runs scored over his last three games. The utility man is slashing a modest .242/.342/.242, as all eight of his hits this season have been singles. He's unlikely to bat higher than the bottom third of the order if he can maintain his newfound playing time.

  • Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Nabs third straight start

Vavra will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Angels. With Ramon Urias (hamstring) recently landing on the injured list and with Kyle Stowers having been demoted to Triple-A Norfolk, Vavra appears to have settled into the open spot in the Baltimore lineup. He'll be making his third consecutive start Wednesday, all of which have come in the corner outfield. The lefty-hitting Vavra could still find himself out of the lineup versus southpaws.
