  • Braves' Garrett Baumann: Finishing season strong

Baumann gave up four hits and zero walks across seven shutout innings while striking out five in his debut for High-A Rome on Sept. 3. The 6-foot-8 righty compiled a 3.42 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 84 strikeouts in 92 innings for Single-A Augusta prior to his Aug. 28 promotion. He has been particularly strong to close the year, logging a 2.08 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 30.1 innings across his last six starts. The lanky 20-year-old may not move quickly through the minors, but he's shown an impressive ability to throw strikes, miss bats and generate weak contact in his first full season.
