  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Done for season

The Rangers placed Langford on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain. Langford made an early exit from Tuesday's game after aggravating a left side injury that has been bothering him for the past week, and the Rangers will now opt to shut him down for the remainder of the season. He'll finish his sophomore MLB season with a .241/.344/.431 slash line alongside 22 homers, 62 RBI, 73 runs scored and 22 stolen bases through 134 games. Billy McKinney was selected from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the void in Texas' outfield group.

  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Back in action Sunday

Langford (side) is batting second and starting in left field Sunday against Miami. Langford was held out of the lineup both Friday and Saturday while dealing with left side tightness, though he was able to enter Saturday's contest as a pinch runner. That served as a precursor to his return to the lineup Sunday. Langford will try to turn around what has been a rough September, as he's batting a meager .170 with one homer and four RBI through 16 games this month.

  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Enters game as pinch runner

Langford (side) entered Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins in the ninth inning as a pinch runner. Langford was held out of starting lineups Friday and Saturday due to tightness in his side. The Rangers believe running the bases wouldn't impact the injury as other baseball activities might, like twisting his body in the field or swinging a bat. However, Saturday's activity is a positive sign that Langford could return to the starting nine Sunday.

Langford (side) is not in Saturday's lineup against the Marlins. It was announced Friday that he was being held out with left side tightness, and Langford will miss a second game in a row. Langford is hitting .241 with 21 home runs and 21 steals in 485 at-bats. Michael Helman picks up the start in center field, batting ninth.

The severity of Langford's injury is still unclear, but manager Bruce Bochy said the team will take a look at him Friday and determine next steps from there. Langford's absence will allow Michael Helman to start in center field and bat ninth against Miami.

Langford went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets. The Rangers' offense was dormant for the first seven innings before it came alive for three runs over the final two innings to extend Texas' win streak to six games. • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Provides key hit early in win

Langford went 2-for-3 with a three-run double, a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 8-1 win over Atlanta. Langford opened the scoring with the productive two-bagger in the first inning, setting the tone as the Rangers took early control against Atlanta starter Bryce Elder. Prior to Sunday, Langford was in a deep slump, having gone just 3-for-34 with a 4:18 BB:K over his previous 10 games since a four-hit effort July 11 versus the Astros. He got a one-time look at leadoff versus Detroit on July 20, but he's spent the last five games in the No. 6 spot. • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Season-high four RBI in rout

Langford went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, a double, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 13-1 victory over the Angels. Langford has been dropped from the second spot in the lineup since coming off the injured list, but it didn't take him long to respond by setting a season high in RBI on Tuesday. While it was certainly an encouraging performance, it's possible the speedy outfielder will need to string together some more positive showings before manager Bruce Bochy considers moving him back up the lineup given his recent struggles. Across his last 221 plate appearances, Langford is slashing a woeful .204/.285/.357 with eight home runs, six doubles, 23 RBI and seven stolen bases.

There doesn't seem to be significant concern for Langford's injury, though he could still end up requiring a stint on the injured list.
