  • Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Red Sox outrighted Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Guerrero had been designated for assignment last week, and he will remain in the organization after somewhat surprisingly clearing waivers. The hard-throwing reliever has posted a 2.63 ERA but a problematic 19:16 K:BB across 27.1 frames covering parts of two major-league seasons.

  • Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Designated for assignment

The Red Sox activated Guerrero from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Guerrero missed a significant chunk of the 2025 season with an elbow issue, but he's healthy now, having made four appearances in the Dominican winter league. The 25-year-old has an uninspiring 19:16 K:BB over 27.1 innings at the big-league level, but he has a 29.8 percent strikeout rate in the minors and has minor-league options remaining, so Guerrero could draw interest on waivers.

  • Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Initiates rehab assignment

Guerrero (elbow) began a rehab assignment with High-A Greenville on Tuesday and worked around three walks and one hit in a scoreless inning in his first appearance. The one-inning outing marked Guerrero's first appearance at any level since June 27, as he's been on the shelf for two months while recovering from a right elbow strain. Guerrero is expected to eventually shift his rehab assignment to Triple-A Worcester, and once he gets a few more minor-league appearances under his belt, he could re-emerge as an option for Boston's bullpen.

  • Red Sox's Luis Guerrero: Nearing rehab assignment

Guerrero (elbow) threw a 25-pitch live batting practice session Aug. 12 and could soon head out on a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. Guerrero is eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list later this week, but he'll need additional time to complete a rehab assignment before making his return to the Boston bullpen. Before landing on the shelf June 28 due to a right elbow strain, Guerrero compiled a 4.15 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 10:14 K:BB in 17.1 innings over 13 appearances.

The Red Sox transferred Guerrero (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Saturday. Guerrero landed on the injured list in late June with a strained right elbow, and his move to the IL will ensure he remains on the shelf until at least Aug. 27. He'll also cede his spot on the 40-man roster to Nick Burdi (hip), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned to Triple-A.
