Following a brief rehab assignment with High-A Frederick, Willems is back in Triple-A after missing about three weeks due to a left hamstring injury. The catcher is slashing .259/.358/.431 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, and 32 runs scored over 103 plate appearances for Norfolk this season.

Willems has been serving as Norfolk's top backstop this season, compiling a .261/.359/.449 slash line with 14 home runs through his first 69 games before landing on the shelf. The Orioles haven't revealed a timeline for Willems' return, but he'll most likely be held out of action through the All-Star break.

Willems will take the next step in his professional career after producing a .238 average with 13 home runs, 51 RBI, 40 runs scored and a stolen base over 82 games with High-A Aberdeen this season. The catcher will attempt to take advantage of his promotion and impress at the Double-A level.

Willems (hand) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Friday in High-A Aberdeen's 3-2 loss to Jersey Shore.
Willems' final appearance in the Grapefruit League came March 14 and ended early after he was hit on the hand by a pitch, but the 20-year-old catcher was cleared in advance of Aberdeen's season opener. He split time between Single-A Delmarva and Aberdeen in 2023, slashing .220/.316/.395 with 17 home runs over 105 games.
