  • Pirates' Yordany De Los Santos: Activated from MiLB IL

De Los Santos (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.

De Los Santos completed a brief ramp-up period at Single-A Bradenton, where he went 5-for-21 with two home runs and five RBI over five games before being activated. He returned to High-A Greensboro on Friday and is 3-for-9 with a deep ball, four RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored in two appearances.

  • Pirates' Yordany De Los Santos: To 7-day IL

High-A Greensboro placed De Los Santos on the 7-day injured list April 4 with an undisclosed injury.

  • Pirates' Yordany De Los Santos: Promoted to Bradenton

De Los Santos was promoted to Single-A Bradenton on Tuesday.

De Los Santos began the campaign in the Florida Complex League, where he maintained a 124 wRC+ while striking out at a 14.1 percent clip across 78 plate appearances. The 18-year-old will likely spend the rest of the season with Bradenton. Though De Los Santos is several years away from the majors, he has strong bat speed and the athleticism to play both shortstop and third base.

  • Pirates' Yordany De Los Santos: Strong start in FCL

De Los Santos is hitting .325/.391/.425 with nine steals on nine attempts and an 8:5 K:BB through 10 games in the Florida Complex League.

De Los Santos didn't have an overly impressive statistical showing in the Dominican Summer League (106 wRC+), but he gets lauded for his bat speed, projectable 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, and athleticism. He has split time between shortstop and third base, but the assumption is that he will end up at the hot corner.
