Malgeri went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Yankees.
The 26-year-old got the start in right field and batted ninth in his big-league debut, and Malgeri seized the opportunity by singling in his first MLB plate appearance before coming around to score. Tuesday's start came against southpaw Carlos Rodon, and Malgeri is likely to find himself filling a short-side platoon role in Detroit's lefty-heavy outfield while he's up with the big club.

Tigers' Ben Malgeri: Joins big-league roster
Rotowire
The Tigers selected Malgeri's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old has received his first promotion to the majors after posting a .296/.401/.496 slash line through 65 games with Toledo this season. Malgeri should serve as a reserve outfielder for Detroit and could see some starts against left-handed pitching.
