  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Out of St. Louis lineup

Church is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Pirates. Church has drawn the lion's share of the playing time in center field for the Cardinals since Victor Scott (ankle) was hurt, but Church will step out of the lineup Tuesday. Lars Nootbaar will slide over to center field and Jordan Walker will get the start in right field.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Heading to bench Sunday

Church is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Church started in center field in the first two games of the series and went 2-for-8 with a home run, a stolen base, three RBI and three runs, but he'll take a seat for the series finale as the Cardinals make room for Jordan Walker in right field, with Lars Nootbaar shifting to center. Church and Walker could end up forming something of a timeshare for the final spot in the St. Louis outfield until the Cardinals get either Brendan Donovan (groin) or Victor Scott (ankle) back from the injured list.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Added to lineup

Church will bat ninth and play center field Friday against Tampa Bay. Church was initially tabbed for a night off, but he'll enter the starting nine Friday after Brendan Donovan (wrist) was scratched. Church is hitless in 14 at-bats this season, but he's driven in two runs, scored four times and stolen a bag.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Out of Friday's lineup

Church is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Rays. Church started the first three games in center field upon his promotion from Triple-A Memphis, but he's now been on the bench for two of the past three games. The Cardinals will shift Lars Nootbaar over to center field and give Jordan Walker a start in right field.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Sitting after three straight starts

Church is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Miami. Church started three straight games in center field following his first big-league promotion Sunday, but he'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench. Lars Nootbaar will slide over to center field while Jordan Walker covers right field for the Cardinals in the series finale.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Another start in center field

Church will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game versus the Marlins. Church has now started both games in center field for the Cardinals since he was called up from Triple-A Memphis after Victor Scott (ankle) was placed on the injured list. Lars Nootbaar is also an option for reps in center field, but Church has a much better glove and and had a breakout season offensively in the minors, slashing .329/.386/.524 with 13 home runs and 16 steals across three levels. It's not clear yet when Scott will return, but until he does, Church might serve as the Cardinals' primary center fielder against right-handed pitching.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Promoted for MLB debut

The Cardinals selected Church's contract from Triple-A Memphis, and he will start in center field and bat ninth Sunday against the Yankees. The 25-year-old is one of St. Louis' top prospects and will be making his MLB debut Sunday. Across three minor-league levels this season, Church has batted .329 with 13 home runs and 16 steals in 86 games. He should see at least semi-regular playing time in center field while Victor Scott (ankle) is on the injured list.

  • Cardinals' Nathan Church: Moves past injury

Church (undisclosed) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored Tuesday in Double-A Springfield's 12-1 loss to Wichita after being activated from the 7-day injured list Monday. Church made his 2025 debut with Springfield after an unspecified injury had kept him on the shelf to begin the season. The 24-year-old was cleared to report to Double-A after completing a four-game rehab assignment last week with Single-A Palm Beach, during which he went 2-for-13 with a walk, a stolen base, three runs and an RBI.
