Henderson's season came to an early end after being diagnosed with a flexor strain in his right elbow in early August, but the team has now confirmed the young right-hander made a full recovery and should have a normal offseason. The 23-year-old turned a few heads by posting a 1.79 ERA and 0.99 WHIP alongside a 33:8 K:BB across 25.1 innings during his five regular-season starts with Milwaukee, and he figures to have a strong chance to make the Brewers' Opening Day rotation in 2026.

After being placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 8 due to a right flexor tendon strain before being shifted to the 60-day IL a few weeks later, Henderson won't be eligible to return before the end of the regular season. However, the Brewers are leaving the door open for Henderson to be activated at some point during the postseason, though a return would be contingent on him avoiding any setbacks during the ramp-up process. Even if his throwing program proceeds smoothly, Henderson likely won't be able to get stretched out enough to handle a starting role in October, so the Brewers would presumably have him prepare for a multi-inning relief gig.

Assuming his flexor strain is of a low or moderate grade and doesn't require a procedure, Henderson should be back to full health for spring training and will get the chance to compete for a full-time rotation spot with Milwaukee in 2026.

Henderson (elbow), who was placed on the injured list earlier Friday, has been diagnosed with a right flexor strain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although the injury is significant enough to cause Henderson to miss his next turn through the rotation and land on the shelf, imaging revealed that the right-hander didn't suffer any damage to his UCL. Manager Pat Murphy said the diagnosis was better than what the team was expecting, adding that he doesn't expect the 23-year-old to be out for an extended period of time. Tobias Myers was recalled from Triple-A Nashville and will start Saturday's contest in place of Henderson, though that spot in the rotation will eventually fall to Jacob Misiorowski (tibia), who could return from the IL next week.

Henderson was slated to make his second turn through the rotation Saturday versus the Mets, but he'll instead head to the IL due to the elbow issue. The Brewers haven't named a replacement in the rotation for the 23-year-old, but Tobias Myers was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move and would be a logical candidate to make a spot start. Considering Misiorowski is expected to be healthy by the time Henderson is eligible for reinstatement, Henderson could be optioned to Nashville once he's activated.

The rookie right-hander will make his second straight turn through the rotation in place of Jacob Misiorowski (tibia). After being recalled from Triple-A Nashville last weekend, Henderson took a no-decision in this past Sunday's win over the Nationals, covering 4.1 innings while striking out four and allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks. The Brewers seem optimistic that Misiorowski is on track to return from the IL when first eligible Aug. 15, so Henderson may not be in line for additional starts beyond Saturday.
