  • Blue Jays' Josh Kasevich: Makes 2025 debut at Triple-A

Kasevich (back) has gone 1-for-7 with a walk in two games for Triple-A Buffalo since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Kasevich had been on the shelf all season due to a stress reaction in his lower back, which he suffered during spring training. The 24-year-old started up a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on May 20, but he suffered a setback at some point along the way, as he didn't appear in any games after May 27 before resuming his assignment in mid-July. Kasevich finally received clearance to rejoin the Triple-A club after he played in eight games and went 8-for-20 with a 6:3 BB:K during his second rehab assignment, which included stops in the FCL and with Single-A Dunedin.

  • Blue Jays' Josh Kasevich: Stress reaction in back

Kasevich will be sidelined several weeks after aggravating a stress reaction in his lower back in a game last weekend, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

It's not clear when Kasevich suffered the initial injury, but he's now had a setback. The 24-year-old infielder finished last season at Triple-A Buffalo and will be assigned there once he's healthy enough to play.

  • Blue Jays' Josh Kasevich: Promoted to Triple-A

The Blue Jays promoted Kasevich from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Kasevich will move up to Triple-A after producing a .282 average with three home runs, 41 RBI, 51 runs scored and 10 stolen bases over 86 games with New Hampshire this season. The 23-year-old will look to impress with Buffalo in order to potentially get a shot with the big-league club down the road.

  • Blue Jays' Josh Kasevich: Drawing raves at Double-A

Kasevich has been praised for his work ethic and defense this season while slashing .353/.413/.456 through 16 games for Double-A New Hampshire, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old hasn't shown a lot of power or speed since being drafted 60th overall in 2022 -- he has only one homer and one steal for New Hampshire -- but Kasevich appears on track to at least be a bench player in the majors given his slick glove at shortstop and strong hit tool. Given his age and performance, a summer promotion to Triple-A could be in the cards.
