Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Pops first career homer
Navarreto launched a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
Entering the game in the eighth inning with the Marlins getting routed 9-1, Navarreto got hold of a Tanner Banks fastball for his first career big-league homer. It was the first appearance for the 30-year-old backstop since he was added to the roster at the beginning of September, and his playing time will likely remain scarce with Agustin Ramirez and Liam Hicks getting most of the catcher reps for Miami.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Joins big-league club
The Marlins selected Navarreto's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Navarreto last appeared in the big leagues back in 2020, appearing in two games with the Marlins that season. The 30-year-old catcher slashed .229/.301/.392 with six home runs, 27 RBI, 22 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 16:39 BB:K across 176 plate appearances at Triple-A in 2025 and will provide the Marlins with a third option behind the plate in September.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Inks MiLB contract with Miami
The Marlins signed Navarreto to a minor-league contract Friday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
The deal does not include an invitation to big-league camp during spring training, Navarreto, 30, put up a .565 OPS over 40 games at Triple-A Nashville in the Brewers organization in 2024. His only major-league experience came with the Marlins during a two-game cup of coffee in 2020.

Brewers' Brian Navarreto: Signs with Milwaukee
Navarreto signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday which includes an invite to major-league spring training, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Navarreto spent the 2022 campaign at Milwaukee's Triple-A level, and he'll return to the organization for 2023. He had a .262/.317/.362 slash line with four home runs in 43 games last season and should serve as organizational catching depth.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Back with Miami organization
Navarreto re-signed Sunday with the Marlins on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training.
When Miami's depth at catcher was thinned during the 2020 season, Navarreto was called up from the alternate training site in late August to make his MLB debut. He ended up appearing in two games before being cast off the 40-man roster. Though Navarreto will get the opportunity to compete for the No. 2 catcher job with the big club in spring training, he's more likely to open the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Jacksonville or Double-A Pensacola.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: DFA'd by Miami
Navarreto was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Saturday.
Navarreto appeared in just two games during his time on the active roster and went 2-for-5 with one strikeout. However, he'll be cast off the 40-man roster after Chad Wallach (undisclosed) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Moves up from taxi squad
The Marlins selected Navarreto's contract from the taxi squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
He'll assume the 40-man roster spot of Ryan Lavarnway, who was designated for assignment, and the 28-man active roster spot of Francisco Cervelli (concussion), who was placed on the 7-day injured list. Jorge Alfaro is locked in as the Marlins' No. 1 catcher, so Navarreto will likely be in line for around a start or two per week behind the dish until one of Cervelli or Chad Wallach (undisclosed) are cleared to return from the IL.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Included on summer camp roster
Navarreto is part of the Marlins' 60-man player pool, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Navarreto is at best fourth on the depth chart behind Jorge Alfaro, Francisco Cervelli and Chad Wallach. The 25-year-old backstop has never made it past Double-A.

Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Gets minors deal with Marlins
Navarreto signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has yet to reach the Triple-A level, so his odds of winning a big-league roster spot in camp would appear to be quite slim. He owns a career .221/.269/.321 slash line in 176 Double-A games.

Yankees' Brian Navarreto: Dealt to Yankees
The Twins traded Navarreto to the Yankees on Thursday.
Minnesota's return in the deal isn't known, but the Yankees probably aren't sending along anything more than a low-level prospect or cash considerations. Navarreto will likely report to Double-A Trenton with his new organization after slashing .177/.229/.331 across 146 plate appearances for the Twins' Southern League affiliate this season.
