    The Rays optioned Rock to Triple-A Durham on Friday.

    Rock was summoned to the majors Thursday and allowed two hits and no walks while striking out five across three scoreless innings during the Rays' 7-4 loss to the Yankees. He'll head back to Triple-A, where he has started in 15 of 20 games and has a 4.63 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 71:33 K:BB across 81.2 innings.

    He'll be replaced on the 26-man roster by Joe Boyle, who had been starting for Durham and could serve as a swingman during the upcoming week.     The Rays recalled Rock from Triple-A Durham on Saturday.

    The Rays will bring up Rock to bolster the bullpen, designating Forrest Whitley for assignment in a corresponding move. Rock has spent the entire 2025 season in Triple-A, where he has a 3-5 record in 15 games (14 starts) with a 4.81 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 63:30 K:BB across 73 innings. He'll be available out of the Rays' bullpen and could make his major-league debut as soon as Saturday against the Orioles.

    The Rays optioned Rock to minor-league camp Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

    Rock had a nice showing this spring, tossing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He was never under any real consideration for the Opening Day roster, however, and is slated to open the year in the rotation at Triple-A Durham.

    Acquired from the Rockies in March, Rock posted a 4.58 ERA and 132:35 K:BB over 139.2 innings this season at Durham. The left-hander is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

    Rock, 23, spent the 2023 season split between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque, collecting a 4.66 ERA and 112:34 K:BB over 92.2 innings covering 20 starts. The left-hander figures to be assigned to Triple-A Durham.
