  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Demoted to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Blalock to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. Blalock surrendered 19 earned runs -- including five long balls -- in his past three starts and will now make his way back to Triple-A. The right-hander has failed to impress across 47 major-league innings this season with an 8.62 ERA and 1.79 WHIP.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Lit up again Thursday

Blalock (1-4) allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks while failing to log a strikeout over 3.2 innings, taking the loss Thursday versus the Diamondbacks. Home runs from Lourdes Gurriel and Jose Herrera accounted for five of the seven runs on Blalock's line. Those blasts came within the first two innings, and the right-hander ran into more trouble before he was pulled in the fourth. Blalock has given up 19 runs across his last 15 innings over three starts. The 24-year-old is at an 8.62 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 22:18 K:BB in 47 innings through 11 appearances (nine starts) this season. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home against the Dodgers, who have been struggling lately but still pose a threat.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Struggles again Saturday

Blalock allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Blalock has given up 12 runs, including three home runs, over his last 10.1 innings. He's shown some flashes of quality during his time in the majors this season, but making half of his appearances at Coors Field hasn't helped his cause. The right-hander had posted a passable 3.00 ERA over 18 innings on the road prior to this poor outing in Arizona. Blalock is now at a 7.89 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB through 43.1 innings over 10 appearances (eight starts). He is tentatively projected to get a rematch at home with the Diamondbacks next week.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Roughed up during loss

Blalock (1-3) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks while striking out two over 5.2 innings. Blalock struggled from the start, giving up a two-run homer to Tommy Pham in the first inning followed by another to Spencer Horwitz in the second. The 24-year-old was coming off his only quality start of the season but couldn't carry that momentum forward, as he allowed multiple home runs for the third time in his nine appearances in 2025. The right-hander now sports a 7.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB through 38.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Goes six scoreless in no-decision

Blalock did not factor into the decision in Monday's 8-6 win over the Guardians, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings. Blalock racked up a career-high seven strikeouts and didn't allow an extra-base hit, exiting with a 3-0 lead the Rockies' bullpen couldn't hold. The outing marked the 24-year-old's first career quality start, and he's now allowed just three earned runs over 17 innings since rejoining the majors July 12. He'll take a 7.09 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB across 33 frames into a home matchup with the Pirates this weekend.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Earns first win of season

Blalock (1-2) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk over 5.1 innings against the Cardinals. He recorded no strikeouts. Blalock was far from perfect Tuesday, allowing plenty of baserunners, but he managed to deliver a serviceable outing that helped the Rockies secure a win. The right-hander came in with rough numbers, posting a 9.97 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over 21.2 innings across six appearances (four starts) this season. His struggles stem largely from a lack of strikeouts (3.7 K/9) and an astronomical home-run rate (2.5 HR/9). While Tuesday's performance got the job done, Blalock remains far from fantasy relevance.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Solid in no-decision

Blalock did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and zero walks over 5.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out one. The right-hander gave up a run in the first inning on an Austin Hays sacrifice fly but settled in from there in his first appearance since being called back up to the majors Monday. It marked Blalock's first MLB start since May 10, an appearance in which he surrendered 12 runs over 3.2 innings against the Padres. For the season, he holds a 9.97 ERA and 1.80 WHIP across 21.2 innings in six appearances (four starts) at the big-league level.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Recalled, starting Sunday

The Rockies recalled Blalock from Triple-A Albuquerque, and he'll start in Sunday's series finale versus the Reds at Coors Field. Blalock won a spot on the Rockies' Opening Day roster as a long reliever, making two appearances out of the bullpen before being optioned to Triple-A. The 24-year-old right-hander has since started three games at Triple-A and will now get his first start of the season with the big club, affording all other members of the rotation an extra day of rest. The Rockies haven't announced their plans for Blalock beyond Sunday, but a poor showing would put him at risk of a demotion.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Returns to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Blalock to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. With Cal Quantrill (tricep) returning from the injured list to start Sunday's game against the Cubs and Antonio Senzatela (elbow) set to return from the IL to start Monday versus the Diamondbacks, the Rockies no longer had room in the rotation for Blalock. The right-hander made six starts for Colorado following his Aug. 12 call-up from Triple-A, logging a 1-3 record with a 6.07 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 20:19 K:BB in 29.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Drops third straight

Blalock (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks over four innings. He struck out four. Blalock gave up a leadoff homer to Parker Meadows in the first inning before he was tagged for another four runs in the second, with three scoring on a Riley Greene bases-loaded triple. It's the third straight loss for the 23-year-old Blalock -- he's allowed 14 earned runs in just 13 innings in that span and has also issued 11 walks in his last two starts (nine innings). Overall, Blalock sports a 5.87 ERA with a 1.79 WHIP and 20:19 K:BB through his first 29.2 big-league innings. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, currently scheduled for this weekend against the Cubs at home.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Earns first career win

Blalock (1-0) earned the win against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Blalock was given an early lead and pitched well enough to earn his first major-league victory. While some efficiency issues have prevented him from earning a quality start, the rookie has allowed three earned runs or fewer while pitching into the sixth inning in each of his three starts with the Rockies. On the season, he owns a 3.06 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 17.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Marlins next week.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Limits Padres to one run

Blalock allowed one run on six hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Sunday. Blalock came an out short of a quality start for the second outing in a row, and he was also pulled before the Rockies gained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. While he walked three, it was still another positive performance for the 23-year-old in his Coors Field debut. Blalock has a 2.92 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB over 12.1 innings across three appearances (two starts) between Colorado and Milwaukee this year. Despite his decent pitching, Blalock may be sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque if Ryan Feltner (shoulder) is able to return from the injured list this week without requiring a rehab assignment, though Tanner Gordon has been less inspiring as a fill-in starter for Colorado's injury-plagued rotation.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Drawing another start

Blalock is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Padres at Coors Field. The right-hander will earn a second straight turn through the rotation after he fell just shy of delivering a quality start in his Rockies debut Monday, when he took a no-decision while limiting a potent Diamondbacks lineup to three earned runs on six hits and no walks. That outing came at a more neutral offensive environment at Chase Field, but Blalock will be difficult to rely upon Sunday while he pitches for the first time at the notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Making first major-league start

The Rockies recalled Blalock from Double-A Hartford and will have him start in Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. With Cal Quantrill dealing with general forearm soreness, German Marquez (elbow) out for the season and Ryan Feltner (shoulder) and Dakota Hudson (eblow) both on the 15-day injured list, the Rockies were slim on options in their starting rotation and have opted to call up Blalock to fill the void. Blalock was acquired by Colorado in late July as part of the package for right-hander Nick Mears. Blalock is 5-3 across 18 starts in Double-A this season with a 4.36 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 86.2 innings. He appeared in one game for the Brewers out of the bullpen in June, but he'll be making his first MLB start Monday in his Rockies debut.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Shipped to Colorado

The Rockies acquired Blalock and right-hander Yujanyer Herrera from the Brewers on Saturday in exchange for right-hander Nick Mears, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Blalock made one appearance with the Brewers this season, walking one batter in a scoreless inning. The 23-year-old has primarily pitched at the Double-A level, starting 16 games this season and posting a 4.08 ERA and 64:27 K:BB across 75 innings for Biloxi. He'll likely report to Double-A Hartford with his new organization.

  • Brewers' Bradley Blalock: Back to Double-A

Blalock was optioned to Double-A Biloxi on Friday. Blalock will head back to Biloxi after not making an appearance during his four days with Milwaukee. Enoli Paredes will take his place on the 26-man roster.

  • Brewers' Bradley Blalock: Ticketed for Double-A

The Brewers optioned Blalock to Double-A Biloxi on Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Blalock was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster this winter and is seen as one of the organization's top pitching prospects, but he's most likely a year or more away from making his MLB debut. The 22-year-old righty split time between the Single-A and High-A levels in the Red Sox and Brewers organizations in 2023, logging a collective 2.82 ERA and 75:20 K:BB in 67 innings over his 15 starts.

  • Brewers' Bradley Blalock: Gets 40-man spot

The Brewers selected Blalock to their 40-man roster Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The 22-year-old right-hander is likely at least a year away from putting himself in consideration for a spot in the big leagues, but the Brewers saw enough from Blalock following his Aug. 1 acquisition from the Red Sox to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this winter. After missing most of the first two months of the past season season while finishing up his recovery from March 2022 Tommy John surgery, Blalock proceeded to turn in a 2.82 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB over 67 innings between stops at the Single-A and High-A levels.
