  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Belts grand slam vs. Minnesota

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a grand slam during Saturday's 7-3 win over the Twins. Montgomery put the exclamation point on the White Sox's six-run second inning when he cleared the bases on a 412-foot blast to right-center field. Saturday marked Montgomery's eighth multi-hit game of the season, and he's hit home runs in consecutive games on six occasions this season, including two instances in which he's homered in three straight games. He now has a .229/.288/.528 slash line with 12 homers and 34 RBI across 156 plate appearances this season.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Showcases power Friday

Montgomery went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Twins. Montgomery has showcased his power consistently for the last month, with all 11 of his home runs coming in his last 26 starts. After a one-game absence earlier in the week due to side soreness, Montgomery has returned to start a pair of consecutive games and should be a mainstay in the White Sox's lineup moving forward.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Checking back into starting nine

Montgomery (side) will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta. Montgomery was held out of Tuesday's 11-10 loss after exiting in the series opener a night earlier due to a sore left side, but he appears to have made enough improvement following the day off to rejoin the lineup for the finale in Atlanta. After starting at shortstop in Montgomery's stead Tuesday, Chase Meidroth will retreat to the bench.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Departs with side injury

Montgomery left Monday's game against Atlanta with left side soreness. Montgomery can be tagged as day-to-day until the team has more information on the extent of the injury. If he needs to be shut down, look for Brooks Baldwin to see opportunities at shortstop. After the game, Montgomery stated "I just took a swing on a foul ball and I kind of felt a little bit of a stretch. But I mean nothing crazy or anything like that. Got on first and they saw I was feeling for it and they asked me if I felt something and I was like yeah, but nothing too serious," per Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Continues to showcase power stroke

Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 2-1 loss to Detroit. Montgomery lifted his 10th homer of the season, and he's now tallied one extra-base hit in three of his last four games. The rookie infielder has quickly grabbed the attention of fantasy managers since being promoted to the major leagues -- Montgomery is slashing an effective .241/.311/.565 with three doubles, one triple, 26 RBI and 16 runs scored over his first 120 plate appearances. After bouncing around the bottom part of Chicago's lineup, Montgomery has hit fifth in eight of his last nine outings.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Pops ninth home run

Montgomery went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored Sunday against the Guardians. Montgomery was out of the lineup Saturday but returned to smack a solo home run in his first at-bat of the day Sunday. He continues to showcase a boom-or-bust approach at the plate, tallying nine home runs across his last 16 starts while also striking out multiple times on five occasions in that span. Montgomery's lack of ability to make consistent contact could ultimately catch up to him, but he's an elite source of power for the time being.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Not in Saturday's lineup

Montgomery is absent from Saturday's starting lineup against the Guardians. Montgomery will be on the bench for the beginning of Saturday's AL Central game while Jacob Amaya starts at shortstop and bats eighth. Over his last 10 games, Montgomery has gone 8-for-39 (.205) with five home runs and 11 RBI.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Smacks eighth homer

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners. All eight of those homers have come over his last 12 games dating back to July 22 versus the Rays. The infield prospect struggled a bit initially when he joined the major-league roster, but he's taken little time to find a groove. He's now batting .256 and slugging .567 with 24 RBI, 12 runs scored and no stolen bases across his first 26 contests. Montgomery has helped fill in for Chase Meidroth (thumb) at shortstop, but there should be room for Montgomery in the lineup on a near-everyday basis even when the White Sox have a fully healthy infield.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Tear continues

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an RBI single during Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Angels. Montgomery headlined a four-run first inning for the White Sox, launching a three-run home run. He followed up the long ball with an RBI single in his second at-bat. The 23-year-old shortstop has been mashing since the All-Star break, going 15-for-58 (.259) with seven home runs, 21 RBI and nine runs scored. All seven of his homers have come in his last 11 games. Montgomery has an .851 OPS on the year.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Stays hot with homer

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo homer during Friday's 6-3 win over the Angels. Montgomery has discovered his power stroke lately while serving as one of Chicago's best run producers. The 23-year-old hammered out his third home run in his last four games. In fact, all six of his home runs this season have come within the young infielder's last nine games, a span in which he's gone 9-for-36 (.250 batting average) with a double and 13 RBI.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Goes deep again

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Phillies. Montgomery popped his home run in the fourth inning, his fifth long ball in his last eight starts. He's also struck out one time or fewer in each of those games, good for a 15.6 percent strikeout rate. The ability to make consistent contact was a major question for Montgomery upon his promotion, but he's handled big-league pitching well in his limited sample.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Goes deep in third straight game

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 12-5 win over the Cubs. Montgomery clubbed his third homer of the season, going deep in his third straight game while extending his hitting streak to five games as well. The 23-year-old rookie slugger is splitting time at shortstop and third base in Chicago's infield, and he's off to quite a promising start in his major-league career. Montgomery is slashing .273/.344/.509 with two doubles, one triple and 13 RBI through 62 plate appearances, and his stock is beginning to rise for fantasy managers in need of power at a premium position in deeper leagues.

Montgomery went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs and five total RBI in an 11-9 win against Tampa Bay on Wednesday. It was a big day for Chicago's rookies, as Montgomery and catcher Kyle Teel combined for six hits (including two homers) and seven RBI. Montgomery's long ball was a big three-run shot in the second inning that tied the game 4-4. Montgomery has been hot to begin the second half of the campaign, going 7-for-23 with two home runs and 10 RBI through six contests.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Swats first major-league homer

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Rays. Montgomery's lone hit of the night was a solo home run in the seventh to bring the White Sox within one run. It was the rookie's first career long ball, and he's now hit safely in four of five games coming out of the All-Star break while tallying an RBI in each of those contests. Tuesday also marked the first time in seven games that Montgomery did not strike out. He had punched out 10 times over his past six games coming into Tuesday.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: On bench to open twin bill

Montgomery isn't part of the starting nine for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against Cleveland. With southpaw Logan Allen on the mound for the Guardians, Montgomery will take a seat for Friday's matinee. Chase Meidroth will fill in at shortstop while Lenyn Sosa plays the keystone.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Sitting versus southpaw

Montgomery is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Guardians. The left-handed-hitting Montgomery started Wednesday against Blue Jays lefty Eric Lauer, but he'll grab a seat as the Guardians send southpaw Logan Allen to the bump. Chase Meidroth will play shortstop and Lenyn Sosa will be at second base for the White Sox.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Headed to majors

Montgomery is expected to be recalled by the White Sox to make his major-league debut Friday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Montgomery was viewed as one of the top shortstop prospects in the league following a sensational 2023 season. He's underwhelmed at Triple-A Charlotte for each of the last two years with a .717 OPS in 185 games, but the White Sox are still ready to give him a chance to presumably take over as their starting shortstop. The move is not yet official, but the promotion will shake up the White Sox's infield, with Josh Rojas looking like a potential playing time loser.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Making first start since Thursday

Montgomery will start at shortstop and bat second for Triple-A Charlotte in Wednesday's game against Durham after having not played since last Thursday due to a hand injury, Dylan Barnas of FutureSox.com reports. Montgomery has had some unfortunate luck on the injury front lately, but he's been able to avoid extended absences. After getting hit on the knee by a pitch in a May 30 game, Montgomery missed a few days before returning to the lineup June 4, only to get hit on the hand by another pitch in his second game back in action. The shortstop prospect needed just under a week off to heal up from the hand injury, and he should be ready to handle an everyday role for Charlotte moving forward. He's slashing .197/.287/.382 with seven home runs and two stolen bases over 171 plate appearances on the season for the Triple-A club.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Dealing with knee soreness

Montgomery is considered day-to-day due to knee soreness, MLB.com reports. Montgomery was hit by a pitch in the knee Friday and was held out of the lineup Saturday. X-rays came back clean, so it is not anticipated that he'll be out for the long term. Montgomery has shown improved form since re-joining Triple-A Charlotte on May 13, maintaining a .275/.373/.510 line across 51 at-bats.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Rejoining Triple-A club

The White Sox transferred Montgomery from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Montgomery will rejoin Charlotte for the first time since late April, after he was sent back to extended spring training to work on his swing mechanics upon slashing .149/.223/.255 with a 41.7 percent strikeout rate over 103 plate appearances to begin the International League season. The 23-year-old returned to action when the ACL season began earlier this month and appeared in five games, going 3-for-17 with a 2:4 BB:K. Despite the middling results in his limited sample of action in Arizona, the White Sox were evidently satisfied enough with Montgomery's plate approach to have him report back to Charlotte. If he can get back in track at Triple-A and keep his strikeouts in check, Montgomery could still be a candidate to make his MLB debut at some point later this season.
