  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Reaches thrice in win

Cowser went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a stolen base during Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. Cowser had to shake off a bit of rust after returning from the 7-day concussion IL on Sunday, going 1-for-10 with four strikeouts in his first two games back. He reached safely three times Tuesday, notching a double and a pair of walks with no strikeouts. The outfielder is striking out at a career-worst 31.7 percent clip in 2025, and he's slashing .210/.278/.390 with nine homers and seven stolen bases across 230 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Making return from concussion

The Orioles reinstated Cowser (concussion) from the 7-day injured list Sunday. Baltimore optioned Daniel Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk to clear room for Cowser, who missed about a week and a half while recovering from a concussion. Prior to being shelved, the 25-year-old slashed .213/.279/.401 with nine home runs and six stolen bases over 215 plate appearances on the season. Cowser should immediately settle back into an everyday role in the Baltimore outfield.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Hopeful for Sunday return

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Friday that the Orioles are hoping Cowser (concussion) will be activated from the injured list for Sunday's game against Houston, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Cowser became eligible for reinstatement Thursday, and he's slated to be activated for the final game of a three-game set against the Astros on Sunday. Dylan Carlson and Greg Allen have been holding down left field while Cowser is sidelined.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Will not return when first eligible

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Wednesday that Cowser (concussion) will not be activated from the 7-day injured list when first eligible Thursday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Cowser is still going through the concussion protocol and cannot be activated until he's cleared. Mansolino indicated that Cowser might not be far off from returning, but there's always an element of uncertainty with concussions.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Dealing with concussion

The Orioles placed Cowser on the 7-day concussion injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 7, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Cowser will be sidelined for at least a week after sustaining a concussion. Fellow outfielder Tyler O'Neill (wrist) was also placed on the injured list Friday, leaving the Orioles' outfield thin. Jordyn Adams was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Per Kubatko, the concussion is considered mild and Cowser could be back after the minimum seven days.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Idle for series finale

Cowser is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies. Cowser will take a seat along with Jackson Holliday and Ryan O'Hearn while the Orioles face off against southpaw Austin Gomber. Dylan Carlson will start in left field in place of Cowser, who went 1-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and three runs in Saturday's 18-0 romp.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Continues to supply plenty of pop

Cowser went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 9-6 extra-inning win over Atlanta. Cowser smashed homer No. 8 for the year and his seventh since the beginning of June. The 25-year-old outfielder has provided the Orioles with a boost since coming off the injured list back on June 3 -- he's slashing a productive .240/.291/.531 with seven round trippers, seven doubles, 16 RBI and one stolen base over his last 103 plate appearances. Cowser began the season as Baltimore's leadoff batter but has hit sixth or lower in the lineup in all but one of his last 27 games, although it's worth noting current No. 1 hitter Jackson Holliday is struggling with a .543 OPS across his last 21 outings.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Smacks three doubles

Cowser went 3-for-4 with two walks, three doubles, two RBI and four runs scored in Friday's 22-8 win over the Rays. Per Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun, the Orioles set a franchise record Friday with 14 extra-base hits, three of which came off the bat of Cowser. The 25-year-old outfielder also set a career high with four runs scored as he contributed to six of the Orioles' 22 runs in a blowout victory. Cowser has reached base safely in eight of his last nine games, and over that span he has gone 11-for-32 (.344) with five doubles, eight runs scored, three home runs and 10 RBI.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Delivers go-ahead homer

Cowser went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Rays. Cowser has homered in three straight games. His long ball came in the sixth inning Thursday, giving the Orioles a lead they wouldn't relinquish. The outfielder is struggling a bit for consistency at the plate, but the power is there. He's posted a .210/.269/.532 slash line with six homers, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, two doubles and one stolen base over 67 plate appearances this season, but he could be held back by a 34.3 percent strikeout rate. He's avoided striking out in each of the last two games, but Cowser will need to continue improving his plate discipline, without sacrificing power, to be a reliable fantasy asset.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Sitting for third straight game

Cowser (soreness) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. The Orioles will keep Cowser on the bench for a third straight game while he deals with lingering soreness stemming from a collision with the outfield wall Thursday. According to Jake Rill of MLB.com, interim manager Tony Mansolino said Saturday that Cowser has resumed baseball activities, so it's possible that the 25-year-old will be available off the bench Sunday.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Out of lineup again Saturday

Cowser (soreness) isn't in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Angels on Saturday, but he is available off the bench, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Cowser will begin on the bench for the second straight day after colliding with the center field wall while playing defense Thursday. At this point, it doesn't seem that the outfielder is dealing with more than general soreness, and given his availability off the bench, an IL stint doesn't seem likely. Ramon Laureano is starting in left field in Cowser's stead Saturday while Ryan O'Hearn is patrolling right field.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Not in Orioles' lineup

Cowser is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Seattle. Cowser started the first two games of the series after returning from the 60-day injured list, but he'll get some rest for this one. Jorge Mateo is in center field and Dylan Carlson is in left as the Orioles try to complete the sweep.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Should return during road trip

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Friday that Cowser (thumb) is expected to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list during Baltimore's upcoming road trip, which runs June 3-8, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The 25-year-old had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Norfolk this week after three games with High-A Aberdeen, and he should be ready to rejoin the Orioles after a few more minor-league contests. Cowser played just four games this season before fracturing his thumb, and his return will be timely with Cedric Mullins (hamstring), Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Ramon Laureano (ankle) also on the shelf.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Takes BP

Cowser (thumb) participated in batting practice Saturday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Cowser has been on the injured list since March 31 due to a fractured left thumb, but he's been making significant strides in his recovery. The 25-year-old was spotted playing catch May 9, and Saturday marked his first time taking batting practice. He remains on track for a late-May or early-June return.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Plays catch Friday

Cowser (thumb) was seen playing catch Friday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. Cowser landed on the 10-day injured list in late March due to a fractured left thumb and was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 28. He has taken the next step in his recovery program by playing catch, though manager Brandon Hyde relayed that Cowser is "a little ways away" from swinging a bat, per Weyrich.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Orioles transferred Cowser (thumb) to the 60-day injured list Monday. The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster. It doesn't change the timetable for Cowser, as he has yet to be cleared to resume baseball activities and isn't expected back until late May or early June.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Out until late May/early June

Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Tuesday that the target for Cowser's (thumb) return is late May/early June, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The timetable provided when Cowser went down with a fractured left thumb in late March was 6-to-8 weeks, so it appears he's looking at the latter end of that timeline, if not longer. Heston Kjerstad has been serving as the Orioles' primary left fielder since Cowser was injured.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Out for six-plus weeks

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that he expects Cowser to be out "probably 6-to-8 weeks minimum" after the outfielder was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Cowser suffered structural damage to his thumb while he slid into first base during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays. The Orioles recalled Dylan Carlson from Triple-A Norfolk to provide extra coverage in the outfield while Cowser is out, but Heston Kjerstad appears to be the most likely candidate to earn regular playing time -- at least against right-handed pitching -- over the next several weeks. Hyde didn't say whether or not Cowser would require surgery on his thumb.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Undergoes hand surgery

Cowser had successful surgery on his fractured hand Tuesday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Cowser fractured his left hand in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series versus the Royals on Oct. 2, the game in which the Orioles were eliminated. Given the timing of the injury, Cowser is expected to have enough recovery time to be ready for the start of spring training.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: Launches homer in Friday's win

Cowser went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-2 win over the Twins. Cowser has tapped into his power late in the season, swatting four homers over his last seven games. He's also logged seven RBI and 12 strikeouts in that span. The rookie outfielder is up to 24 homers, 69 RBI, 77 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a .244/.323/.451 slash line over 152 contests. He's been able to maintain respectable numbers despite striking out at a 30.9 percent rate this season.
