  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Moved to IL

The Rangers placed Carter (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Friday. Texas makes Carter's move official after manager Bruce Bochy revealed Friday morning that Carter could be out for the season with a fractured right wrist. The 22-year-old's spot on the active roster will go to Michael Helman. Wyatt Langford should see more action in center field while Carter is out, while Alejandro Osuna could see a bump in playing time in left.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Exits game following hit-by-pitch

Carter was removed from Thursday's game versus the Royals in the eighth inning after being hit in the right wrist by a pitch, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. He was struck by a Daniel Lynch offering in the seventh inning. Carter remained in the game initially before eventually being lifted an inning later. The 22-year-old is likely to undergo X-rays, and an update on his condition should be forthcoming. He went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base before exiting.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Returns from 10-day IL

The Rangers activated Carter (back) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Carter played just one rehab game with Double-A Frisco and served as the designated hitter in that contest. He had been slated to play at least one more rehab game, but with Adolis Garcia (ankle) injured, the Rangers are bringing Carter back early. Carter has been sidelined for most of this month with back spasms.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Begins rehab assignment

Carter (back) served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with two walks for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday. Carter kicked off what is expected to be a brief rehab stint. Per MLB.com, he's likely to return this weekend, when the Rangers travel to Toronto for a three-game set beginning Friday.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Rehab assignment imminent

Carter (back) took batting practice Monday and could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Carter has responded well to an injection for his injured back and is nearly ready to play in games. The outfielder has been sidelined for less than two weeks, so his rehab assignment is likely to be brief. Wyatt Langford has been playing center field since Carter went down, but Langford should return to left field once Carter is ready to return.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Receives injection for back

Carter said Wednesday that he received an injection to address discomfort in his ailing back and expects to resume ramping up his baseball activities Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Carter was placed on the injured list Saturday due to back spasms, but the young outfielder doesn't appear to be tracking toward an extended stay on the shelf. Assuming the shot in his back yields the desired effect, Carter could start hitting, running and playing defense over the weekend before potentially heading out on a rehab assignment. With Carter out, the Rangers have been using Wyatt Langford as their primary center fielder, which has opened up more reps for Alejandro Osuna and Sam Haggerty in left field.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Triples in win

Carter went 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Atlanta. Carter knocked in the Rangers' first run in the second inning with a triple and then came home to tie the game at 2-2. He's knocked in runs in two straight contests. Carter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics. • Rangers' Evan Carter: Early offense in win

Carter went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 win over Houston. Carter delivered a two-out, two-run single in the first inning to give Texas an early lead. He then stole a base but was left stranded. Carter had a slow start upon his promotion from Triple-A Round Rock in early May, but the outfielder has turned it around over the last month. Since June 8, Carter owns a .310/.400/.483 slash line with nine extra-base hits, 14 RBI, nine steals and 17 runs scored over 25 games.

Carter's ground-rule double produced two runs, and he walked with the bases loaded for a third RBI. Carter started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to San Diego. Carter returned from the bereavement list and picked up where he left off. The outfielder extended a hit streak to eight games and stole multiple bases for the second straight contest. Carter is slashing .355/.459/.387 with five steals and one RBI over the hit streak. He was eventually replaced by a pinch hitter in the 10th inning against a lefty reliever, which is a normal practice of Texas manager Bruce Bochy. He's turned it around at the dish since his return, however, slashing .333/.421/.530 with three homers and five steals across his last 21 games.

Carter batted seventh and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 win over Pittsburgh. Carter had a brief stint at leadoff while Josh Smith was unavailable due to a hamstring issue. • Rangers' Evan Carter: Taking seat vs. lefty Bubic

Carter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. The left-handed-hitting Carter will head to the bench while the Royals send southpaw Kris Bubic to the bump. Though Carter has produced an .860 OPS over 23 games on the season, he's logged just seven of his 75 plate appearances against southpaws, and the Rangers may continue to limit his exposure to same-handed pitching.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Won't start this weekend

Carter (wrist) got tests on his sore right wrist and isn't expected to return to the starting lineup until at least Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. Carter is out of the starting lineup Saturday after departing Friday's matchup early due to wrist soreness that likely was a consequence of a diving catch he made in the fourth inning. While he won't start Sunday either, Carter could be available as a pinch runner this weekend. The hope among the Rangers is that the outfielder could be back Tuesday against Kansas City following an off day Monday.

  • Rangers' Evan Carter: Injury considered minor

Manager Bruce Bochy said after Friday's win over the White Sox that he believes Carter's wrist injury isn't anything too serious, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Carter was pulled from Friday's game in the seventh inning after injuring his wrist on a diving catch in the fourth. Bochy added that the team will likely look to give the 22-year-old outfielder a day off to recover Saturday, but he shouldn't need much more time than that before returning to the lineup. Josh Smith and Sam Haggerty are the most likely candidates to take Carter's place in center field while he sits.
