Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Will go on IL with labrum injury
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters that Woodruff was diagnosed with an inflamed labrum in his right shoulder that he suffered during Saturday's start against the Diamondbacks and will be placed on the injured list, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
It will be the second time that Woodruff will go on the IL this season due to a labrum injury, with his first stint lasting six weeks from early May to mid-June. If his recovery timeline is the same this time around, then Woodruff would not be back with the Brewers until at least early August, though his injury history could result in a longer stint on the shelf. It's yet another injury setback for the right-hander, who missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from a capsule repair surgery on his right shoulder in October of 2023, which also limited Woodruff to just 12 regular-season starts in 2025. He ended up taking the loss in Saturday's start against Arizona, when he allowed three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out six across 3.2 innings.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Exits game with trainer
Woodruff (undisclosed) was removed in the fourth inning of Saturday's start against the Diamondbacks, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Woodruff's velocity was noticeably down during Saturday's start, with his fastball topping out at 87 mph and his changeup at 73 mph in the fourth inning, per Sophia Minnaert of Brewers.tv. Woodruff left the mound with a trainer, and he'll finish his night having allowed three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out six across 3.2 innings. The Brewers should have an update on Woodruff once he undergoes further tests.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Continues to succeed post-injury
Woodruff did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 scoreless innings.
Woodruff was in complete control throughout the outing, with Miguel Amaya's third-inning double standing as the only hit he allowed. Woodruff has looked outstanding since returning from shoulder inflammation, tossing 11.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits with a 16:2 K:BB across his two starts. The veteran has not issued more than two walks in any outing across the entire season. He is set to face Arizona on the road in his next start.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Dominant in return
Woodruff allowed one hit and struck out 10 batters over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Monday.
Woodruff made his first big-league appearance since April 30 after spending time on the shelf due to a shoulder injury. The veteran right-hander showed absolutely no signs of rust, as he retired the first 16 batters he faced and allowed just one baserunner overall (on a Tyler Stephenson sixth-inning single). Woodruff racked up a season-high 10 punchouts, and the only thing holding him back from an even more impressive performance was a restricted workload that limited him to 79 pitches over six innings. Woodruff said after the game that he felt "pretty much the same" physically throughout the start, per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, so he appears to have emerged without any setbacks. Woodruff should be able to build up his pitch count as he racks up more starts, and he is next lined up to take the mound at home versus the Cubs.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Activated ahead of start
Milwaukee reinstated Woodruff (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday in Cincinnati.
Woodruff will be making his first start for Milwaukee since April 30, after a bout with right shoulder inflammation kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. The 33-year-old righty made two rehab appearances in the minors prior to being activated, building up to 5.1 innings and 82 pitches in his most recent outing with High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday. While Woodruff shouldn't be operating with a major workload restriction in his return from the IL, he'll carry some performance risk following a lengthy layoff from major-league action. Woodruff tentatively lines up for a two-start week, with a second appearance likely to come Sunday at home versus the Cubs if he bounces back well from Monday's start.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Returning from IL on Monday
Woodruff (shoulder) confirmed that he will return from the 15-day injured list Monday to start the Brewers' series opener in Cincinnati, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Manager Pat Murphy had already indicated that Woodruff would rejoin the rotation for that series, and the right-hander is now locked in to start the first contest of the three-game set. Woodruff will be making his first big-league appearance since April 30, when he was lifted from a start after developing shoulder inflammation. Over the course of two rehab starts between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and High-A Wisconsin, Woodruff was able to get stretched out to 5.1 innings and 82 pitches, so he should be capable of handling something close to a standard workload Monday.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Will rejoin team next week
The Brewers announced that Woodruff (shoulder) will return to the pitching rotation during next week's series against Cincinnati, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Woodruff will finally make his return to the big-league mound for the first time since the end of April. The 33-year-old most recently completed a rehab start Tuesday, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings while striking out six batters. Before going on the injured list, the right-hander posted a 3.60 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB in 30 innings.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Throws 82 pitches in rehab start
Woodruff (shoulder) allowed three runs over 5.1 innings while notching six strikeouts in a rehab start with High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday.
There's no word on what Woodruff's velocity was in the outing, but he got his pitch count up to 82. That leaves him sufficiently stretched out if the Brewers believe he's ready for his next start to be in the majors. Woodruff has yet to make a start this season on four days' rest, so the earliest he could rejoin the big-league rotation is likely Monday in Cincinnati. He's been shelved since late April with right shoulder inflammation.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Another minor-league start on tap
Woodruff (shoulder) is expected to make another minor-league rehab start Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
The Brewers haven't announced which affiliate Woodruff will join for his second rehab start, but he'll be looking to build on the 68-pitch workload he handled with Milwaukee's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate last Tuesday. He turned in so-so results in that appearance, striking out five batters over 3.2 innings but yielding three runs on five hits and two walks. So long as his shoulder checks out fine during his upcoming minor-league outing and his velocity and command are satisfactory, Woodruff could then return from the 15-day injured list as soon as Sunday in Atlanta. Woodruff has been on the shelf since May 1 due to right shoulder inflammation.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Throws 68 pitches in rehab start
Woodruff (shoulder) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings in his first rehab start with the Brewers' Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday.
The bottom-line results aren't what you want, but Woodruff did strike out five and got his pitch count up to 68. Per Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com, Woodruff averaged a shade under 91 mph between his four-seamer and sinker, which is down from his season average of 92.2 mph but up significantly from the mid-80s he was throwing in his final start before going on the injured list in late April. Woodruff is working on a lower arm slot, and he might need a couple more rehab outings to get comfortable before he rejoins the Milwaukee rotation.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Starting rehab stint
Woodruff (shoulder) was assigned to the rookie-level ACL Brewers to begin rehab assignment Tuesday.
The right-hander has been throwing to live hitters the past couple weeks and recently lowered his arm slot, and he's now set to test that new slot in game action. Woodruff has been sidelined by shoulder inflammation since he showed significantly reduced velocity during his April 30 start versus Arizona, so he's likely to require a few rehab starts before rejoining the Brewers.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Could pitch in complex league
Woodruff (shoulder) is headed to the Brewers' spring training facility and could pitch in Arizona Complex League games, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Woodruff lowered his arm slot during a 42-pitch live batting practice session Wednesday, as he believes it had risen since right shoulder surgery. (For the record, Baseball Savant disagrees, listing Woodruff's 2026 arm angle at 43 degrees, which is right in line with his career norm). The right-hander is looking for an arm slot that he feels comfortable with, and he could remain in Arizona for a bit while he works on his mechanics. Woodruff believes he will be back to make multiple starts before the All-Star break, but the Brewers have not offered a target date for his return yet.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Set for live batting practice
Woodruff (shoulder) will throw a three-up live batting practice session Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
He's expected to throw around 60 pitches in the outing. He could be cleared to rejoin the Brewers' rotation after that, though it's also possible they'll ask him to make a rehab start. Woodruff has been sidelined since late April because of right shoulder inflammation.

Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Throwing 60-pitch live BP next week
The Brewers announced Tuesday that Woodruff (shoulder) is scheduled for a 60-pitch live batting practice session next week, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Woodruff continues to get ramped back up after hitting the shelf in late April due to right shoulder inflammation. It's unclear whether the extended simulated game will replace a rehab assignment or if the veteran hurler will need a rehab outing in addition to the sim game. Woodruff held a 3.60 ERA and 25:7 K:BB over 30 innings covering six starts for the Brewers before getting hurt.
