  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting against lefty

Perkins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

The switch-hitting Perkins will head to the bench for a fourth straight matchup versus a left-handed starting pitcher (Robbie Ray). Perkins and Brandon Lockridge will continue to platoon in center field until Jackson Chourio (hamstring) is ready to return from the injured list.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Out of Thursday's lineup

Perkins is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Perkins has received most of the reps in center field for the Brewers since Jackson Chourio (hamstring) went down, but he will begin Thursday's series finale on the bench. Brandon Lockridge will patrol center field and hit eighth in the batting order.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Giving way to Lockridge in Game 1

Perkins is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cubs.

Perkins went 1-for-7 with a walk and a run scored while starting in center field in both of the Brewers' first two games following his return from the bereavement list Sunday, but he'll give way to Brandon Lockridge in the first contest of the twin bill. The two players could form a platoon in center until Jackson Chourio (hamstring) returns from the injured list, with the switch-hitting Perkins in line to receive most of the starts versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back from bereavement list

The Brewers reinstated Perkins (personal) from the bereavement list Sunday.

The 28-year-old was away from the team for the past few days to tend to a personal matter, but he's back for the series finale in Cincinnati. Perkins will bat sixth and start in center field Sunday, and he should operate as the primary option at the position with Jackson Chourio (hamstring) likely out for a couple more weeks.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Lands on bereavement list

The Brewers placed Perkins (personal) on the bereavement list Thursday.

Perkins will step away from the team for a few days for personal reasons. Players can remain on the bereavement list for 3-to-7 games, so the outfielder should be back with the Brewers sometime next week. Brandon Lockridge could pick up some extra starts in center field in the meantime.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Grabbing seat Monday

Perkins is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Perkins has been the Brewers' everyday center fielder since Jackson Chourio (hamstring) got hurt, but he'll retreat to the bench after 10 straight starts. Brandon Lockridge will patrol center field and bat eighth for Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Enjoys big game in victory

Perkins went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs and two total RBI in a 5-4 win against Atlanta on Wednesday.

Perkins' two-run homer to right field in the fifth inning gave the Brewers a 5-1 lead, and that held up as Atlanta fell short by a run. Perkins continues to thrive in the absence of Jackson Chourio (hamstring); since Chourio got hurt July 29, Perkins has started seven straight games in center field and is batting .323 with three homers, nine runs, six RBI and a stolen base during that span. Perkins went deep just six times over 121 regular-season games last year, and he's already halfway to that mark with three home runs through just 17 contests this season.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Goes yard twice in wild win

Perkins went 2-for-6 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday's 16-9 win over the Nationals.

The switch hitter launched both blasts from the right side of the plate, taking Mitchell Parker deep in the second and fifth innings. The homers were the first of the season for Perkins, who is batting .281 (9-for-32) over 12 games since the All-Star break with five extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple, two home runs), two steals, six RBI and eight runs. With Jackson Chourio (hamstring) set to miss more than the 10-day minimum after being placed on the injured list Friday, Perkins should be in line for an everyday role over the next few weeks.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Clutch off bench

Perkins went 1-for-1 with an RBI single, a run scored and a stolen base during Sunday's 3-2 win over Miami.

Perkins didn't make the starting nine Sunday, but he entered in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for William Contreras. The outfielder immediately swiped second base and then scored the game-tying run. In the ninth, Perkins stepped into the batter's box and walked it off with a single. Since joining the big-league club July 18, Perkins is 5-for-22 (.227) with three RBI, three runs scored and a pair of steals.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Moving into reserve role

Perkins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Perkins will hit the bench for the second day in a row after he had started in five of Milwaukee's six contests before that. With Sal Frelick returning from the injured list Saturday, Perkins looks set to fill more of a fourth-outfielder role moving forward for the Brewers.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Getting look in everyday role

Perkins will start in center field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Following his call-up from Triple-A Nashville coming out of the All-Star break, Perkins has now started in four of the Brewers' last five games. He's gotten on base at a .357 clip thus far and has contributed a stolen base, and if he can continue to make a decent impact with the plate while bringing his usual solid defense in center field, Perkins should be able to hold down a near-everyday role until Sal Frelick (hamstring) returns from the injured list.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Adds steal Saturday

Perkins went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 8-7 win over the Dodgers.

Perkins was called up Friday to provide outfield depth while Sal Frelick (hamstring) is out. Perkins went 1-for-1 off the bench Friday before getting the start in center field for Saturday's contest. The 28-year-old outfielder will be a decent source of speed if he can carve out consistent playing time -- he had 23 steals over 121 games a year ago. For now, he slots in as a switch-hitting option who can play all three outfield spots, but that may not lead to an everyday role immediately.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Brought up to bigs

The Brewers recalled Perkins from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins will fill in for the IL-bound Sal Frelick (hamstring), marking Perkins' first MLB action of 2025. He suffered a fractured shin in February and picked up a groin injury during his recovery before being reinstated July 13. He should see regular playing time in right field while Frelick is shelved. Perkins notched a .648 OPS with 23 stolen bases in 434 plate appearances with the Brewers last season.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

Perkins (groin/shin) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Perkins will remain with Nashville after finishing his minor-league rehab assignment at the Triple-A level, batting .192 with a home run, two RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases over 26 at-bats in eight games. With Sal Frelick (hamstring) leaving the Brewers' win early Sunday, it's possible that Perkins could be elevated to the major-league roster if Frelick is forced to miss any action when play resumes following the All-Star break. Drew Avans was designated for assignment Sunday, opening a spot on the 40-man roster for Perkins.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Hopes to re-start rehab Friday

Perkins (groin) hopes to re-start a rehab assignment Friday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment for a fractured shin when he suffered a left groin strain last week. He's evidently taken strides in his recovery, though, and should be back in game action soon. It's possible Perkins will be ready to rejoin the Brewers by the start of the second half or shortly after.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Now battling groin injury

The Brewers pulled Perkins (shin) off his rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Thursday due to a left groin strain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins had been performing well in the minors while working his way back from a fractured right shin, going 3-for-13 with a homer, two RBI, three runs scored, two steals and six walks through five games at Nashville. However, a strained groin will delay his return from the injured list. The severity of his latest injury remains unknown, but it puts him at risk of remaining sidelined through the All-Star break.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Takes another step toward return

Perkins (shin) had his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.

Perkins began his assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on June 14 and slashed .389/.500/.389 with two RBI, one stolen base, a 4:4 BB:K and no extra-base hits through seven games. The outfielder fractured his shin in late February and has spent the entire season on the injured list, but he could be ready to make his 2025 debut with the Brewers once he gets in a few more games under his belt with Nashville. Once activated, Perkins projects to serve as a fourth outfielder for Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Beginning assignment in ACL

Perkins (shin) will begin a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins will be joined in Arizona by fellow outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique), and both players are expected to move their rehab assignments to Triple-A once they get enough reps in rookie ball. Perkins is slightly behind Mitchell in his recovery process, though the former is still expected to reach Nashville by the end of the month and may join Milwaukee's active roster before the All-Star break.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Targeting late-June assignment

Manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that the team hopes for Perkins (shin) to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on June 25, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

A fractured right shin has kept Perkins on the injured list since the start of the regular season. He initially struggled to make progress after starting up his running program in May but has since turned a corner and now seems to be only a couple of weeks away from returning to a competitive setting. Assuming he doesn't run into any setbacks in his recovery, the 28-year-old outfielder should have a good chance to make his season debut before the All-Star break.
