  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Makes history in easy victory

Alonso went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-5 win over Atlanta. It was a record-setting night for the All-Star first baseman, who passed Darryl Strawberry for the most home runs in Mets franchise history, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. After posting a miserable .548 OPS in the month of July, Alonso is heating back up in August. He's hitting .350 with six long balls, four doubles and 15 RBI across his first 40 at-bats of the month to bring his OPS to .880 for the season.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Surging to begin August

Alonso went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Monday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to Cleveland. Following a dreadful July that saw him post a .548 OPS over 85 at-bats, Alonso is quickly embarking on an early power surge to open August. The All-Star first baseman has three long balls in four outings so far this month, and Monday marked his seventh game of the year with at least four RBI. The four hits also established a new season high for Alonso.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Homers in second straight game

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a double Saturday in a 12-6 victory versus the Giants. Alonso set the tone for a big offensive night for the Mets when he cranked a three-run blast to center field in the first inning. The All-Star slugger has gone deep in each of his past two games following a rough 1-for-23 stretch at the plate. Alonso is up to 24 homers on the season as he seeks another campaign with at least 30 long balls -- the only time he hasn't reached that mark in his career was during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Homers in loss

Alonso went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Giants. Alonso got the Mets on the board with a 414-foot blast in the seventh inning and then tied the game in the eighth with a sacrifice fly. It was a much-need effort from the 30-year-old, as he'd gone just 1-for-23 since last homering July 23. For the year, he's slashing .260/.352/.498 with 23 long balls, 83 RBI, 55 runs scored and a stolen base across 475 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Busts slump with homer

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Angels. Mired in a 2-for-33 slump over the prior 10 games, Alonso broke out by taking Jake Eder deep in the third inning before adding a single in the seventh. The slugging first baseman is up to 22 homers and 80 RBI on the season, with the latter number sitting third in the National League behind the Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez (86) and the Cubs' Seiya Suzuki (81).

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Should get start Monday

Alonso (hand) is expected to return to the starting lineup Monday against the Angels, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The first baseman entered Sunday's win over the Reds in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement for Mark Vientos to keep his club-record consecutive games streak alive, and Alonso's hand contusion was never viewed by the Mets as a serious concern. The brief time off may end up doing the slugger some good, however -- through 62 plate appearances in July, Alonso's slashing just .176/.306/.392, although he does have three homers and 12 RBI.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Dealing with hand contusion

Alonso has been diagnosed with a right hand contusion near the base of his thumb, explaining his absence from the starting lineup Sunday versus Cincinnati, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Importantly, X-rays on Alonso's hand came back negative, and he may be available to pinch hit. The slugger would need to do so in order to extend his franchise-record streak of 353 consecutive regular-season games played. It doesn't sound like the Mets are concerned that Alonso is dealing with a significant injury, so an IL stint doesn't seem likely.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Out of lineup Sunday

Alonso is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's tilt versus Cincinnati. This is a very rare day off for Alonso -- the last time he wasn't included in a Mets starting lineup was May 30, 2024, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The All-Star first baseman has also appeared in a franchise-record 353 straight regular-season contests, so he'd need to get into the game at some point Sunday to extend that streak. It's not yet certain why Alonso isn't starting, but he's been slumping of late, going 2-for-25 with eight strikeouts over his previous seven games. Mark Vientos is starting at first base for New York in the series finale against the Reds.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Slugs two homers Saturday

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three total runs and five total RBI in a 12-6 win against the Yankees on Saturday. Alonso cleared the fence with a two-run shot in the fifth inning and added a three-run blast in the seventh. The pair of long balls pushed the powerful first baseman up to 20 homers on the year -- he's now reached that mark in each of his major-league campaigns aside from the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Alonso had been seemingly due for a power display, as he entered Saturday with just one home run over his previous 23 games.

Alonso went 3-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 13-5 win over the Rockies. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, he passed David Wright for second on the Mets' all-time home run list and set the team record for multi-homer efforts with 23. Over his past 15 games, the 30-year-old has hit safely 14 times with five multi-hit performances and 12 extra-base hits. He leads the majors with 61 RBI this season while slashing .301/.396/.594 with 17 long balls and 41 runs scored across 293 plate appearances.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Powers offense with two homers

Alonso went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five total RBI in a 6-1 win against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Alonso was almost the entire Mets offense in the victory, as he collected two of the team's four hits and knocked in five of the squad's six runs. His first long ball was a 392-foot, two-run shot in the first inning, and the slugger added a massive 447-foot, three-run blast in the eighth. Alonso went through a 16-game stretch without a home run between May 6 and May 24, but since then he's bounced back with five long balls and 15 RBI across his subsequent 10 contests.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Ends homer drought Sunday

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 3-1 win versus the Dodgers. The New York first baseman snapped a 16-game homerless streak with a 406-foot long ball off Los Angeles starter Landon Knack in the opening frame. During that 16-game span, Alonso produced a putrid .175/.217/.222 slash line with three runs scored and five RBI across 69 plate appearances. Through 233 total plate appearances, the 30-year-old is slashing .291/.391/.536 with 10 homers, 30 runs scored and 40 RBI.

Alonso has reached base safely in 22 of his last 23 games and is slashing .318/.428/.604 with nine home runs, 36 RBI and 28 runs over 187 plate appearances this season.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Mashes ninth homer

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Alonso has five multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, a span that has seen him rack up three homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored. The first baseman has yet to go more than two games in a row without a hit, which is some impressive consistency, especially since he's never hit higher than .271 over a full season. Alonso is batting .349 with a 1.143 OPS, nine long balls, 33 RBI, 26 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 36 contests. In addition to his efficient contact, he's walking at a career-high rate (15.6 percent) and striking out at a career-low clip (15.0 percent).

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Goes deep Tuesday

Alonso went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks. Alonso reached three times through the first four innings and put the Mets up 8-0 in the fourth with a ball that was launched off the second deck in left field. Alonso worked a walk for a fifth straight game and has walked 20 times in the first 30 games of the season. His 28 RBI are tied for second in all of baseball and he sits alone in second with a 1.126 OPS, only behind Aaron Judge among qualified hitters.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Sizzling start continues vs. Twins

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Twins. Alonso took Twins right-hander Bailey Ober yard to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The star first baseman has thrived in the early going while batting behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto. Through his first 73 plate appearances of the campaign, Alonso is slashing a robust .356/.466/.729 with five homers, seven doubles, 20 RBI and 11 runs scored.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Blasts game-tying, three-run homer

Alonso went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Miami. After doubling to plate a run in the first inning, Alonso blasted a three-run homer in the eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The star slugger is off to a fast start at the plate, slashing .286/.423/.667 with two long balls, two doubles and eight RBI over 21 at-bats. As long as he's hitting directly behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, Alonso should see a great deal of RBI opportunities in 2025.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Breaks game open with grand slam

Alonso went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, a walk and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-4 win over Miami. Alonso broke this one wide open in the fifth inning, taking Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill deep to plate four runs and give the Mets a 6-1 lead. Monday marked the first home run and RBI of the young season for the star slugger, who has gone 3-for-14 (.231) with four walks through four games thus far. With Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto batting in front of him, Alonso should see plenty of RBI chances in 2025.

  • Mets' Pete Alonso: Finally goes yard this spring

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk and a three-run home run in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros. He crushed a pitch from Miguel Castro over the left-field fence in the sixth inning. It was Alonso's first long ball this spring, but he also has four doubles among his nine hits while batting .220 (9-for-41) with a 7:8 BB:K. The slugging first baseman appears to be getting his timing down just in time for Opening Day.
