  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: In lineup for ALDS Game 3

Naylor (personal) will start at first base and bat fifth Tuesday in Game 3 of the ALDS versus the Tigers. Naylor's availability for Game 3 had been in question, as he did not travel with the Mariners to Detroit while he and his wife were expecting the birth of their first child. He has since rejoined the team and is in the lineup as the series moves to Detroit. Naylor is 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Status for Games 3 and 4 uncertain

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Monday that Naylor is with his expecting wife and it's uncertain whether the first baseman will be available for ALDS Games 3 and 4 in Detroit, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Naylor did not travel with the team as he and his wife await the birth of their first child. He could be placed on the paternity list, which would make him unavailable for 1-to-3 games, but it does not seem to be a given that a move will be made. Luke Raley or Eugenio Suarez could fill in at first base if Naylor has to miss time. If it's Suarez who is used at first base, the Mariners would likely install Ben Williamson at third base. Naylor has gone 0-for-8 with a 1:1 BB:K in the first two games of the ALDS versus the Tigers.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Starting in Game 1

Naylor (groin) will start at first base and bat fourth in Saturday's ALDS Game 1 matchup against the Tigers. Groin soreness kept Naylor out of the lineup for the Mariners' final two regular-season games, but he's now feeling well enough to rejoin the starting nine for the beginning of the ALDS. The 28-year-old may still have to miss time during the series, however, as his wife is expected to go into labor in the very near future.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Remains out Sunday

Naylor (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. The Mariners won't risk Naylor ahead of the playoffs after he was pulled from Friday's game with groin tightness. Luke Raley will start at first base and bat sixth against left-hander Clayton Kershaw in Seattle's final regular-season game of 2025.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Fighting groin tightness

Naylor was pulled from Friday's game against the Dodgers with minor groin tightness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Naylor seemingly suffered the injury while stealing second base in the third inning Friday, leading to his eventual removal in the fifth. The fact that his groin issue is being described as minor is a good sign that he'll be healthy for Seattle's postseason run, although the M's may still err on the side of caution and hold him out for the final few games of the regular season. Naylor's steal Friday was his 30th of the season, a stunning career high for a player whose previous best was only 10, and who had a total of 25 career pilfers coming into 2025.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Clutch double in win

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rockies. Naylor came through in the clutch, ripping a bases-clearing double with two outs in the eighth inning to put the Mariners ahead and help secure a postseason berth. Since arriving from the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline, he's maintained his production, posting an .819 OPS in Seattle after logging an .807 mark in Arizona. For the season, the first baseman owns a .292/.351/.461 slash line with 28 doubles, 20 homers, 91 RBI and 28 stolen bases across 144 games.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Mashes 20th homer

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-0 win over Houston. The big fly was the fourth of the month for Naylor, who in the process achieved the first 20-homer, 20-steal campaign of his career. Remarkably, the first baseman has recorded 16 pilfers in just 48 games since joining the Mariners. For the season, Naylor has been a five-category fantasy stud with a .289 batting average, 20 round trippers, 87 RBI, 78 runs scored and 27 thefts through 141 contests.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Sitting against lefty

Naylor is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus Atlanta. With lefty Chris Sale on the mound for Atlanta, Naylor is getting the night off from the starting lineup. Naylor has been scuffling at the plate over the past month, slashing just .247/.281/.400 in that span. Luke Raley is starting at first base and batting ninth.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Clubs homer Friday

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics. Naylor delivered a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh inning. Prior to Friday, Naylor had gone just 1-for-19 with six strikeouts over his previous six games, and he hadn't homered since Aug. 10 versus the Rays. The first baseman is up to 16 long balls, 70 RBI, 62 runs scored, 22 stolen bases and a .282/.346/.450 slash line through 118 contests. He's been consistently strong at T-Mobile Park and should benefit from facing a weak pitching staff in this weekend's series versus the Athletics.

Naylor (illness) is batting fourth and playing first base Saturday against the Mets. The Mariners scratched Naylor from Friday's lineup due to illness, but he's feeling well enough to start Saturday's contest. He'll reclaim his typical spot at first base and bat cleanup. Naylor is riding a five-game hit streak, going 7-for-19 (.368) during that stretch.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Under the weather

Naylor was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Mets due to an illness, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports. There's been a bug going around the Mariners' clubhouse, and Naylor is the latest to catch it, per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. Naylor will rest Friday but could be back for Saturday's matinee if he's recovered enough. Mitch Garver will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Naylor's absence.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Not in Friday's lineup

Naylor (shoulder) is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Rays on Friday. Naylor was forced to leave Thursday's game against the White Sox due to left shoulder soreness, and while he's not in Friday's lineup, he could be available as a pinch hitter, per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. With Naylor absent from the lineup, Donovan Solano will handle duties at first base and bat seventh while Jorge Polanco operates out of the cleanup spot.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Dealing with shoulder soreness

Naylor exited Thursday's game against the White Sox due to shoulder soreness, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Naylor grimaced during a swing in the third inning and departed shortly thereafter. The initial diagnosis doesn't sound particularly ominous with Naylor labeled day-to-day, though he could undergo imaging with more details to follow. The first baseman also played through some shoulder soreness in June, but it's unclear if that's related to the current injury.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Exits early Thursday

Naylor was removed from Thursday's game against the White Sox with an apparent injury, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Naylor didn't seem very comfortable at the plate during either of his at-bats Thursday, and he was taken out of the game after grounding out to end the third inning. The Mariners haven't yet said what is bothering the 28-year-old first baseman, but more details will presumably come after he's evaluated by the training staff.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Stuffs box score in win

Naylor went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk, two stolen bases and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the White Sox. Naylor continues to be efficient on the basepaths -- he's up to eight steals in 11 games with the Mariners. His homer Tuesday was his second in that span, and he's now 10-for-41 (.244) with his new team. Overall, the first baseman is at a .287/.355/.444 slash line, 13 homers, 19 steals, 63 RBI and 56 runs scored through 104 contests between Seattle and Arizona. He's typically displayed good contact skills, so he should hit more consistently as he continues to settle in.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Swipes two more bags in loss

Naylor went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Angels. He has gone 3-for-11 with a walk and four strikeouts in those contests. Overall, the first baseman is at a .292/.359/.442 slash line with 14 steals, 11 home runs, 59 RBI, 50 runs scored, 19 doubles and one triple through 96 games. He has quickly settled into an everyday role, as expected, with his new team.

  • Mariners' Josh Naylor: Extends career-high steal total

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Angels. Naylor extended his hitting streak to six games, and he also stole his career-high 12th stolen base. The first baseman's fantasy value may end up taking a dip as he transitions from hitter-friendly Chase Field to pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park for home contests -- he posted an .855 OPS through 49 games at home for Arizona in 2025 -- but Naylor should see plenty of RBI chances in the heart of Seattle's order. Since the start of June, he's batting .277 with four home runs, five doubles, 22 RBI and three steals over 137 at-bats.
